All being well I will be taking part again this year, missed last year. If you haven't done it, give it a go, its harder than it sounds but good fun, and raises money for a good cause.

So what exactly is it? What does it entail? What do you do?

The website does not explain this in any way at all.

Its a scatter rally, you yet a list and map of checkpoints, work out your own route, and try to visit as many as possible.

In a nutshell thats it, its 20 hours long, from 2pm until 8am through the night if you do the full rally.

Checkpoints are manned and you have a card that is stamped at each checkpoint you visit.

That's 18 hours. Where did the other two go?

Yes I'm going to have a go at this this year. Might be a laugh.

Just in case its any use for people to get an idea of distances involved; this PDF is a list of last years checkpoints. Many/all will most likely be different this time of course.

Might give it a go this year if i'm free Thumbs Up

How far in advance do you get the checkpoint list or is it on the day?

Details of the 2015 Controls are still being worked on but there will be around 50 Controls scattered all over the country from where you can start the Rally. There may also be some extra Controls, available for riders to start at, that will be open for a short time at the beginning of the Rally to give even more choice.

We used to call them Ladybird drives . Bit like hang man or the like with clues at various places to the next place/clue adding bits of the bug until you had all the pieces and clues. It would take someone a few days before hand to sort all the stuff out, but was usually a nice afternoons drive/ride for all.

It may be a good idea for this years BBQ at Bubbs.

You get it a week or 2 before the weekend. You get a blank map of Britain with checkpoints roughly marked. There are straight lines between each checkpoint (about 30 miles between each) and you plan which ones you're going to go to. The idea is to get to as many as possible, ending at the main checkpoint somewhere in the Midlands.

It's good fun if, like me, you like having something to aim for instead of riding aimlessly. The checkpoints aren't hard to find and there are no time restrictions.

Good fun.... Thumbs Up

yes its normally 2 - 3 weeks before the rally, and you get a basic grid map with numbered checkpoints, then a corresponding list that give the address and various other details about each checkpoint. Some check points are at services so they tell you if food/fuel is available, and if its 24 hours.
