Lass at wifes work reversed her big Audi A4 into our little 3 door Kia Picanto.

Our car has a busted drivers door skin and front wing. Checked the hinges , they are fine and no other problems with door alignment.

Looks like a new door skin, new wing and a spray of the rear quarter panel to blend it in.

This other lass wants to pay for it as she doesn't want to knacker her insurance ( £750 EXCESS ).

Any folks have an idea of the rough cost before the trawl of bodyshops starts.

I run a bodyshop.

If you can let me have some more details, I'll run it through our estimating software tomorrow and give you an accurate costing, based on Thatcham times and industry standard materials costs.

Other than that, it's unlikely you will get a door skin, these days most manufacturers don't bother making them and in any case, the labour involved in fitting them comes very close to the cost of a door.

What I will say is that your wife's colleague isn't likely to be seeing much change out of her £750, depending on the parts costs.

Edit: scratch that, I've just done a quick fag packet calculation and you could easily be looking at 4 figures.

The other woman won't have to pay her excess unless she claims for her own damage to her car.

The other lass has had someone fix the bumper on her A4.
Cost her £350 and took 2 days.
She thinks we are taking the piss when i said about £1500 for ours as it is a new car.
Other problem being. My wife needs a car for work as she is a carer for elderly and disabled folk. Drives all over Edinburgh each day.
Our insurance gives us a courtesy car whilst ours gets repaired.
I can see this turning a tad ugly..

Using phone so unable to post photos of our car

Her idea for the plate.

It is a great wee car to drive and nippy as hell when you boot it, especially for a 3 cyl 1 litre job.

Give the Audi driver lady the option of having her own estimate done by a bodyshop of her choosing, as said she was never liable for excess on repairs to your car only her own.
