I bought a Varadero 125 in December but after managing to break my wrist the very next day, I'm only now thinking about riding it.

I was applying some acf50 to it today and noticed some cracks on the engine. Pretty pissed off is an understatement Sad

Bike is an '08 with 8k on the clock

What should I do?

Ride it? Mime had loads like that and it didn't die. Didn't leak or cause any issues.

As long as it's oil / airtight I'd ignore it and ride it - although I'd keep an eye on it.
After a month, maybe more, I imagine the previous owner would just tell you to go hop if you were to complain to them.

there not cracks.

if you run your fingernail over them you'll notice they stick out like a burr.

there caused by thermal expansion cracking of the die that was used to cast those aluminium parts.

every time you pour liquid ali into the die and let it solidify the die gets heat cycled which causes thermal stress and leads to the die cracking.

it occurs quicker in parts of the die with step changes or tight rads, hence probably why its across that rad on the upstand.

theres nothing wrong with the casting and your engine isnt going to assplode, hence why they continue using the "damaged" tooling to keep costs down.

Nothing to worry about - probably just surface cracks due to casting (as stated by others) and nothing will leak in or out.

if your worried rub them down with some wet and dry so they dissapear, if they come back then there cracks if not then as i suspect chris and others are correct about the cating process.
