Just finished work in Warrington , got on the bike, put key in ignition and it feels like the barrel has collapse internally.

Any suggestions? Shocked

Can you hot wire? Should be fairly simple on that bike to get you home.

Aye Paddy, I think it's taxi time. Don't know squat about hot wiring.

R125 is the bike.

At a guess I would say a Yamaha 125 but could be a Honda but r125 dosn't help that much.

If it is a yzf125r or cbr125 this should not happen.
Has someone been trying to steal you bike.

Vehicle Recovery Services Limited - Wigan based, do motorcycles, apparently 24 hour. 01942 273127 or 07747 815860

SOS recovery are supposedly national: 08442 48 48 58

It does sound like pikeys have been piking, you'll want to get it moved. They're easily startled, but they'll soon be, etc.

Cheers guys Thumbs Up

Lost my phone signal for a time there too.

Had to leave the bike. It's chained up and alarmed, so fingers crossed. There was no physical evidence of someone tampering with it but, you never know. Just hope it's still there tomorrow.

Got taxi home Crying or Very sad

I had someone spray 'duck grease' into my lock once, that sorted it.

I hear graphite dust is also good?

Not really tbh. Good and bad points to both places. I'd say that the only good point about the IoM is it's low crime rate and it's motorbike racing.

Currently waiting for a phone call from one of the guys who works at the place I was working yesterday. The agency are ringing him to go and check on my bike when he's on his break. Basically, to see if it's still there. Praying The plan is to pick it up in a van later today.

As for the ignition lock. It wasn't frozen and there were no tell tale signs externally that someone had been tampering with it. The key went in fine but, felt loose and wouldn't turn. It felt like the internal barrel had collapsed. It could be a hangover from when someone fiddled with it a while back and broke my steering lock.

Just use a lighter to heat up your key.

Some Yamaha ignitions can get very fiddly to use. Sometimes all it takes is to not put the key quite fully in, or put it in and angle it slightly. Unless they've improved recently.

Cheers mate but, hopefully I'll be okay (I'll bear you in mind of not ).

My cousins hubby is hoping to pick up a van from work later. We're planning on picking it up tonight, fingers crossed. The two of us should manage to lift it, as it's only a 125.

Thanks again for the offer though. Thumbs Up

So, I may (probably) have derped.

Finally got a van and someone to drive it this evening. Finds bike still where I left it and in one piece. Put key in ignition to show the guy what's happened and how it won't budge. Key turns without any problem and the lights come on. Brick Wall Repeated this process numerous times and it worked every single time without issue.

I can only assume that it had frozen after all (although it didn't seem that cold tbh and there was only a little frost around).

The fact that the key was sliding into the ignition so easily, may be down to putting some ACF50 in there recently, as opposed to the barrel collapsing internally, which I'd convinced myself had happened.

I am now full of Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed and derpiness on a rather large scale.

True but, I'd rather have not spent two hours in the cold in bike leathers, late at night, paid a silly amount in taxi fare and called on folks for quite a large favour. All because I'd wrongly convinced myself of something that wasn't the case.
