I'm genuinely considering replacing Mrs Borg's creaky old Mint desktop with one. Thinking

In the report I read it said it is unchanged other than the CPU and RAM even fits in the change cases etc.

1.8A now, it's getting hungrier. I've had problems with a B+ whigging out when it's not getting a wholesome 1.2A.

I believe it is although no solid proof as of yet. A gigabit port would make this complete for me.

I believe it is although no solid proof as of yet. A fully utilizable gigabit port would make this complete for me.

I was considering a cubietruck simply because of the gigabit port.

But at more than double the price for that + 2Gb of RAM I couldn't justify it.

Obviously, greater throughput is a nice thing to have but what are you doing that needs it?

I think I'm going to have to get myself on to this.

Saying that, never used anything like this so I would have no idea what I'm doing.

Would this benefit Kodi performance much?

Would it require a new build of raspmc/openelec?

yeah I've already ordered mine, mainly for the KODI boost.

my pi is also my torrent client + media server. Being able to move the downloaded torrents off faster while watching something on genesis would be amazeballs.

EDIT: just recieved an e-mail from rs components saying that my order is going to be delayed due to high demand. Sad

I ordered at 20:30 last night and got mine today, woo!

If you run:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

on your old Pi, then you can just put the SD card into the new Pi.

That's what I did anyway and it works a treat!

When I ordered, RS was stating that their back order for dispatch was on the 5th with next day delivery. Now it's the 20th. I hope I'll get mine this week, but possible that I'll entirely forget I've even ordered one by the time that it arrives. Buying surprise gifts for myself!
