Hey BCF,

So my full beam seems to have randomly stopped working, however I assumed that when switched to full beam, the small blue dash light designed to indicate that full beam is engaged would still be on. That's not the case, and it's always off regardless of the position of the lights.

Never had a headlight go on me before so not sure on this, but is this a common trait, or more likely to be an electrical issue?

Potentially unrelated, however my heated grips screwed up a couple of days ago and now only warm the RH bar, and the LED on the "low" setting doesn't come on, however the red LED for the "high" setting works without issue.

Any ideas? Is this normal behaviour for headlights?

Model: 2005 Honda CBF600NA

You haven't said whether you have replaced the faulty bulb or not.

Why would the "Headlight indication light" illuminate if the headlight isn't lit...

Bulb hasn't been replaced as of yet.

Fuck knows, I assumed that it'd still light up as I recall my 125 still displaying that my right indicator was on whilst neither indicators on the right side had bulbs.

To clarify, if the bulb has gone, the light won't still come on? If that's the case then should just be a bulb swap, but for some reason I thought the light would still illuminate if the bulb had gone :S

Swap the bulb, then get back to us.

On all the (pre-canbus and the like) stuff I've worked on (and taken notice of) the high beam warning lamp is wired in parallel with the high beam bulb/element - so the warning lamp will light regardless of whether the actual light is working or even fitted.

On some particularly old things (bantam springs to mind) without the load of the main bulb to regulate the voltage the warning lamp would blow very quickly too....

That said, it might well be more than a coincidence that you had 'other electrical issues' around the same time.

Didn't occur to me when I posted about this, but I've since checked the "pass" light, and that still allows the full beam to come on, and shows the blue dash light. So the bulb does still work, as does the dash light.

I'll take a look to see if something has came loose in the wiring later on today. Anything obvious to look out for?

Well, your bulb hasn't blown then.

Broken things, melted things, unplugged things.

As you said it's the left hand heated grip that is no longer working, and your dipswitch is on the left (iirc) I'd be looking for melted wiring...

It could be the switch though, and the grip failure really is purely a coincidence.
