Royalmail bastards

Was expecting some bike parts to be delivered to work. First time I'd used royal mail with my work address. Item was sent Tracked48, which doesn't need a signature.

Delivered Wednesday at 10am, but WHERE was it delivered? Postmans pocket? because I didnt receive anything. Its not even anything of value, its an engine generator case, rotor and stator. Postie claims he was ill. Delivery office claim it was left outside on a table. 9 people working in office (upstairs), door open, noone knocked.. I think it was chucked in a skip so he could take an afternoon off.

Chance of getting my money back from ebay/paypal?!? tracked48 has compensation, so the seller can claim for it, he chose the delivery service.

not happy especially as this means I cant trust my work address for post, which will be a massive inconvenience

Buyer requests money back I think.
Seller was going to (may have tried) to put buyer in touch with courier).

But... as a buyer, I don't have a contract with the courier.

One of the reasons why I prefer eBay and PayPal is that buyer protection is excellent and largely hassle free. If that's changing, then it'll be to Amazon's benefit.

Sid has been pacing the hallway for the last few days waiting for an overdue parcel via Royal Mail.

Good job he was on his toes today. The letter box rattled and he got to the door literally as the "Sorry you were out" card hit the mat only to see postie legging it down the front path.

Sid gave chase and the postie (real name Linford) got part-way up the road before being collared and forced to hand over the parcel.

Why do they do that then?

Ebay usually seems to side with buyer, but not if there is "proof" like tracking, hence why I'm asking you knowledgeable sods.

Had similar thing before, item from china, after 5 days it was in UK with royal mail, but a month later it hadnt moved. I opened a claim and waited the week. End of week, asap I clicked request a refund at 9am. Couple of hours later it was delivered, refund denied before I could cancel.

So although my many feedbacks are perfect, ebay might think Im a robbing pikey. I have 4 other requests/partial refunds because stuff has been shit out of 200

I sent seller a message asking for the full refund, and spoke to royal mail again. Claims process can take 90 days Im not expecting seller will refund unless ebay forces him to, therefore I might be better off asking for the required details/proof of postage to make a claim myself

I dont do bureaucracy well, so the claims process not be what they expect.

You may have queered your pitch by asking for delivery to a business address, but I'd argue that the contract is still to deliver it to you.

Have you really not opened a dispute? Do you imagine that it might still somehow turn up?

it might take a while but you'll get your money back from ebay/paypal. there's no proof of delivery, i think it's that simple. No-one has signed for it and I can't see how "left on a table outside" is proof of anything. as said in this thread already- sellers problem, not yours
