Anyone tried Noddle for credit history. Says it is free, I recall hearing about it years ago.

Anyone here use it?? Any good?

I've used it, seemed to work.

They bombard you with emails after though and there are a lot of "pay to see more" features.

Yeah, I use it and have found it to be just as good as the paid for sites. I used to get my £2 statutory report every now and then to check nothing was up but just use Noddle now as it's updated monthly.

I use it, works well. ISTR cashback via quidco at the time too, so probably worth 2 mins of googling before signing up just in case there's cashback on offer.

Didn't know about it, but thanks for the heads-up. Seems to be as comprehensive as Experian without the cost.

All looking good, perfect timing as full mortgage application is about to go in.

Do these credit rating services actually offer much good?

I was under the impression that as different companies use different means of assessing your worthiness of credit, having a good credit rating is actually no indication of whether or not you are going to be given credit.

Checking the credit file for marks is what I thought was more important.

Not trying to say right or wrong with this message - genuinely interested in the responses.

The websites give you a score, which doesn't mean an awful lot as lenders don't see it, they make their own using the raw data.

But... you can see the raw data too, so things like credit checks, open accounts, unpaid loans show up.

You can use it to rectify mistakes too. I did it to check for mistakes, unclosed accounts etc.

I use it.

Is OK but if you start paying for the extras there isn't much difference between it and Experian at £50 a year. (which I think is better)

For a freebie though Thumbs Up

Just signed up, apparently my score is 5/5. It's £20 to get an actual score, but I guess that means I'm above 800?

It did tell me what the remaining balance on my bike loan is though Smile

if you want to check what you owe etc etc then do the free checks with all of them, experian, noodle, equifax, callcredit.

you'll find certain accounts appear on some but not others, but noodle is fine for a basic overview

Tut Tut

The correct way of doing that is to get paid for using the free trials. Razz

Noddle/Callcredit think my twin brother and I are the same person despite us both being registered to vote at different addresses, both holding British passports/driving licenses, holding separate bank accounts etc.

No amount of evidence presented to them has so far convinced them that we are not the same person. Experian and Equifax don't have this issue.

Noddle has no contact phone number so all of your correspondence will be via email and post. Whilst the data they hold on me is correct, getting them to remove or amend anything is a pain.

Amen to that. I found out (after trying to get a mortgage last year) that I had a 5 1/2 year old CCJ from a balance that I had cleared 5 1/2 years ago. The thing to get it removed would have taken as long as the CCJ to clear, so I just waited but until that point I was blissfully unaware.

These issues are only discovered by viewing your file. Viewing doesn't change what data they hold and companies will still see that data, regardless if you subscribe or not.

Silly question, why can't this data be cover by a £10 Data Protection Request.

It's covered by a £2 statutory report that they have to offer.

There is your answer. Complain. If they fail to correct the error. Then you have a right to complain and possible collect a nice payout for all the distress this has caused you Wink
