Got bumped from behind in slow moving traffic this morning. Pulled onto pavement and walked towards his car, the light went green and the wanker tore onto the motorway.

Should have stopped dead where he hit me, blocked him from being able to pass, and got his details. Damage, he's managed to bend the whole thing holding the rear light, reflector and plate, and my brake lights stuck on all the time.

Silver audi, already checked for cameras this evening. No luck. Imagine police will be as useful as an ashtray on the pillion seat.

Bad luck fella. Some people can be right arseholes.

Fabricate a tail tidy from metal from B&Q to tide you over, and check your brake lever to see if the switch is sticking. How hard did he hit you?

Report it to the old bill anyway, they drove off from the scene of an accident (albeit a minor one) so they might have a look into it. Chances are they were uninsured, etc. as well which may spur them on a bit.

Like has been said they probably have no insurance. If they had insurance and drove off then they are mongs.

Not if they get away with it. Then it was pretty smart.

Sadly without witnesses or any form of video evidence, I doubt it's going anywhere. It should still be recorded though, just to mess with their numbers.

This is why you need to carry and RPG launcher with you at all times.

Anyway, hope the damage isn't too costly.

Have reported to police online. The form is... Long... Guess I know why.

From what I can see with the torch, everything on the body looks fine but it looks like the mudguard / back end is built in 2 parts, a bolts sheared and where the back parts attached and has moved forward, it's pinched a few cables. The tails bent out of shape, I reckon I can bend back again.

Not sure what the brake switch looks like ws4936, but I have a Haynes manual, and Saturday daylight approaching, I'll figure it out.

Hopefully this will amount to just a bit of time, a bolt and some wires.

Piss is still boiling that someone damaged my bike on any level and drove off though.

Look for a microswitch somewhere.
Should look something like this:

How hard was you hit?

Leave bike in road, get yourself out of the way, observe numberplate, pull cameraphone, stay calm.

You may be able to claim from the motor insurance beaureau's uninsured/inidentified fund thing if the driver cannot be traced.

125 chasing an audi up the motorway, by the time I was back on bike lights were red, it was snowing, and I think my brain had switched too 'he bumped me from behind, how much damage could that do?'

Doh.

Can see one for front brake, 2 little wires attached to brake like in the picture. Looks OK, can't see the wire from the rear brake.

I don't think he hit me that hard. I didn't move forward more than a couple of inches when he hit me. Brakes held on.

I once got the registration number of someone, a witness, a description of the driver, photos of the damage and a paint sample. Told the police and 6 months later got a note saying they were taking no further action but here's the address for insurance purposes.
