Hi,

Trying to get my 750 Srad (96 carb model) back up and running for the nice weather that's hopefully nearby!

Ive removed / cleaned the carbs and put fresh fuel in the tank but all i am getting are backfires out of the exhaust with the occasional rumble of life. Everything is how it should be, has had fresh spark plugs and all wiring/sparks/coils etc are within spec. Fuel pump is priming and fuel is definitely getting into the barrels. Battery is fresh.

I'm a bit lost with where to go next as it ran fine before winter.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help.

Did you remove or adjust the TPS when you had the carbs off ? Just a thought.

you stated an occasional rumble into life....so no misfiring sometimes ??

the clutch may well be stuck also....

so for gods sake do not grab a handlefull of throttle and smash it into gear AS IT WILL TAKE OFF!! and bugger the gears!

when you got it running, let it warm up in neutral.....stop eng, put bike on centre stand or similar, put into a highish gear say 4th.......

start engine and blip throttle with clutch held in .......this jerking and oil heat will free clutch gently............make sure the bike is safe to do this else see above..........

you should strip and clean after to remove all clutch corrosion etc else this ends up in the engine ( or gearbox for a 2t bike ) oil !

thanks for the replies. Stripped the carbs down again and refitted as per the haynes manual. Think i may have got an airbox hose incorrect. Fitted a new battery too and the bike is running perfect.
