Fazer FZS600 vibration 5kRPM +

Hi all,
Looking for a bit of help.
I have a Yamaha Fazer FZS600 98.
When the engine goes around 5kRPM + the bike seems to vibrate and buzz? i have tried taking fairing off and making it secure and doing the headlight mod to stop the buzzing, but it still seems to do it.
It can happen when its on its side stand and i rev it and also when out on the road, below 5kRPM it runs fine, just beyond that it seems to struggle, the engine has never cut out or had any major issues but this just seems to spoil the riding experience alittle,
I have watched videos of other peoples bikes and it doesnt appear to be a normal Fazer noise?

I dont know when it was last fully serviced as only owned it just under a year, and I'm not massively technical so theres only so much i can do mechanically with out wrecking my bike.

Check the front sprocket nut is tight

If you don't know when it was last serviced, then I'd service it now. The intervals should be around 4k miles or yearly anyway. I'd change oil and oil filter as a minimum, check plugs and air filter - change if either looks old/fouled.

Next thing to check would be plug leads, as I read (especially with Fazers) worn and partially degraded leads can cause this issue.

check the engine mounting bolts are torqued up correctly, if in doubt at least get a spanner on them and make sure they're not loose

Thanks guys.
I just had a look through the service book which i forgot i had at work.
It was serviced in 2013 and not ridden much since then.
I also had a new chain and sprocket fitted in October and a oil and oil filter change.
Not the air filter though.
I had the front sprocket case off just and it was a bit dirty inside, but sprocket nut was tight.
I will check the plugs tomorrow as my underseat tool kits at home and i will also have a look at the leads.
Although I'm not too technical hopefully i can spot if anything looks a miss.
I will try and give the engine mounting bolts a check over shortly too.
Apart from the buzz/vibration the bikes runs well and not really had any problems issues with it, just want to iron out the little things as i enjoy her to much to get rid.

My old one used to buzz a fair bit at motorway speeds (aabout 6k or so). The engines are notorious for it.

If it is really bad then do your valve clearances.

Just feels like once i get to around the 6KRPM mark I need to change gear as the bike just buzzes and vibrates.
Once i have changed up and the revs die down its ok again til i reach around 5K RPM then its back again.
Got no idea how well serviced the bikes been in the past and dont know much about engines? read that maybe a carb sync might help, but like you say maybe its needs a full service and valve clearance, but got no idea how much that would cost at a local garage?? with our ringing them obviously

Set it to idle at 6k revs and sell to a woman for silly money.

Balance the carbs and check the valve clearances.

If you aren't scared of 'spannering' buy yourself a set of vacuum gauges (cheaper than garage labour to do the job and you've saved yourself money the second time you use them )

Buy a Haynes. Neither job is too tricky on those 600's

common with the fazer its just a feature of it.

Mines' the same, it's something to do with the fairing resonating, sometimes when I've unbolted/re-bolted something around the fairing it goes away for a while. I wouldn't worry about it.
