I got a year's free trial of Bullguard Internet Security with my PC, it expired a month ago and I just rely on AVG and general windows protection now. Bullguard sends me emails every now and again saying "20% off, buy now!" and I just ignore.

If you wait long enough, they keep knocking more of the price off, so now I'm at 75% with it costing like 12 pounds.

I'm not a total retard with the computer and general avoid dubious sites/downloads, but is it worth actually paying for something like AV over the free stuff that's available?

What do you use?

I've never used a paid for AV and I've never had a problem.

Why on earth you would use a bloated mess like Bullguard I will never understand.

It is worth buying AV but only if you're buying from me.

However, AV is for n00bs.

Agreed.

I've always gone with Norton, it's much less hassle now that the footprint seems to have been reduced.

Can someone revoke his "Agree" rating of my post? I don't want to be associated with such filth.

The Norton of old with bloat and system resource intensive scanning is long gone, the past few years it has become a very good AV product. I've had for the past 3 years without issue and i'll be buying a new license for it this weekend.

Curry's sale £22 for a 3 PC license.

I use Norton too. Why? Because my dad uses it, gets three licences and only has one computer, so I use it for free.

Clearly you haven't used it, go get a 30 day trial from the Symantec site and see the light.... or sit in ignorance. the choice is yours.

I haven't been raped by a rabid moose either, but I'm not inclined to try it out to see if I like it, even on a trial basis.
