Steve Strange, obese, drug-enthusiast frontman of Visage, a one hit 1980's band, whose best known release was called "Fade to Grey" has died of a heart attack.

The same night as the premiere of "Fifty Shades of Grey".

A coincidence or something sinister?

You decide...... Thinking

I think I'd rather remember through monochrome tinted spectacles the 80s, than examine them closely Confused

His music career was not great. A few hits and one massive one. But he is credited with helping to launch the whole new wave music scene. From the Blitz Club came a good majority of the new wave scene including spandau ballet, boy george and many more.

Steve strange : not my cup of tea.

Didn`t he used to walk along the queue outside his club and bar people from coming in just because they didn't match his idea of who should come in?
Stuck up little twat!

You are right about Pete 'trout pout' Burns, but I just remembered the Strange one was in some celebrity hairdressing salon programme thing.

Steve Strange based 35 years of his life on 7 seconds in a Bowie Video. Even saying that he was a lead artist in the video, gave Bowie all his ideas.

As for Fade to Grey, the real brains and artistic merit for that must go to Midge Ure.

The world wont miss him much, some dealers may, but the world????!!!

I suppose that depends on what the World now thinks of the New Romantic movement because, like him or not, Steve Strange was at the epicentre of that era and there are many that consider they wouldn't have had the career they did without him.

I was/am a fan of that movement, the music and fashions it produced; I also interviewed Steve twice for radio, in 1982 when he was in his pomp, then again in 2001, when he was finishing his book and trying to get himself back together.

I found him to be an extremely interesting character, but there was no doubt the drugs had taken their toll.

I can't say I'll miss him, I didn't know him well enough, but he should be recognised for the influence he had on the music and mood of the 80s.
