Hi Bryce, that's a really nice job you've done with the XV, no unnecessary bling. Thumbs Up

Couple of things, be aware that a mudguard is a C&U requirement (I ran without one though, because gangsta), and when you start pissing blood it might be time to reconsider the hard tail. Wink

Mod 1 is easy to pass, easy to fail. It'll be nerves that get you, so slow breaths, take your time, piece of piss. Plan something significant in for later in the day, like a vasectomy, and a 10 minute test will seem trivial in comparison.

Good job on the bike, really like that

Nail the Mod 1, don't let the nerves get you - it should be a piece of piss.

learning with Irelands, confident about everything but the emergency stop, locked up a few times this morning in my lesson, and the weather is supposed to be heavy rain on Monday.

Mod 1 test centre tarmac is grippy even in the wet. Don't panic

If you lock up and recover you should be OK, just don't stop in a cloud of rubber smoke.

Which wheel? If front, just brake less. It's a controlled stop in a box, not a stoppie-test.

If rear, don't press the rear brake (unless for some reason you're sitting the test on a cruiser). Just put your foot on it for form's sake. You've got plenty of space to stop, even if you leather it through the speed gate.

Do what you have been taught. Nerves are just that, either you do or don't pass. A few more quid and you will pass if you are unfortunate to bugger it up this time.

Have fun when you do pass. Thumbs Up

Is the instructor Mark Allen? Best of luck for tomorrow. It goes really quick, just don't let the nerves get the better of you. Easier said than done.

Unfortunately I failed, put my foot down on the figure of 8, which I've never done before has never been an issue at all, can only put it down to nerves everything else was absolutely fine. gutted it was such a silly mistake, and the test centre is an hour away so it's £105 a time to take the test. oh well, have re booked for Friday hopefully pass next time

Awww. So easy to do. I do wish they'd use some discretion on that. Sad

Did you get to carry on and finish the test?

Schedule that vasectomy for Friday afternoon.

In that case you have the confidence you need for next time to not be nervous.

Flying pass on Friday Smile

Hello mate and welcome.

Hard luck on the test, you can definetely just put that down to nerves.. Makes you forget how to do the simplest things! It's good that your examiner didn't call it there and then though, and you got to finish the test, so at least the course holds no fear for you now. I didn't pass first time either (went too fast on the avoidance and clipped a cone..) so I know them feels!

Consider it a lesson learned, remember to relax and you'll ace it next time Thumbs Up

Hi,
Bad luck yesterday, and good luck on Friday. Don't let the nerves get the better of you. Bit of good news, think a Mod1 retest I think is only about £20 and not £105

Mod 1 is £15.50, but OP has to pay bike hire for the day, as did I when I failed first time last year.. Which usually sets one back around £80 on top of the test fee. Factor in trying to get time off work it can really drag things out.

Damn thats unlucky about your mod 1, I was only wondering if it was Mark that was teaching you. I did my CBT with him. Good luck for friday anyway! I had to pay £80 quid for the bike on my mod 1 which i did at Taunton.
