Hi guys,

I passed my CBT earlier today Very Happy....anda mate of mine mentioned this forum, so thought I would sign up Cool .
I've always been into fast Jap cars over the years, and have ridden rev and go crossers and quads etc...but finally decided to get my ass in gear and get on 2 wheels properly.

I picked up an MX 125 a few weeks ago T&T..everything works as it should, with 5400k miles on the clock.... However, I got talking to a lad today at the test centre who insisted that I need to rebuild the engine for peace of mind before I ride the bike....kinda got me worries now, and a bit worried to ride the thing!

Would I need to do this at this stage, or shall I ride the bike and see how I get on first?

Thanks

Congrats and welcome, etc.

I would just try riding it (carefully) and see how you get on.

If you need some reassurance, try a google search for 'MX 125 review' or 'MX 125 engine problem'.

There's not much that should scare you out of enjoying it.

There are loads of armchair mechanics who know jackshit about anything. Or one thing more than you and so will appear the expert.

You have just passed your test. Ride the bike until you fall off. Get back on and ride some more. Things break, things get repaired. Just look after the basics, oil chain, keep fuel in tank, stay sunny side up. That's enough for now.

Thanks for that lads!!

I bought a haynes manual for an rs125 (couldnt find one for the mx, but its got the same 125 rotax engine, from what I can gather), and have shed loads of tools, so ideally I would prefer to do all the work myself when the time comes.

Lad at the test centre is a whang. Don't go fiddling with it unless it's broken.
