Guy in our office got one recently. Went to the boutique in Central London too. Spent ~£500 and because it was waxed he thought he'd wear it home in the rain. It leaked like a sieve

Sunstuff make a facsimile of Bellstaff-style jackets which isn't utterly horrifically expensive (but at £195 aren't the bargain of they year).

Wax cotton jackets are fucking freezing but can be kept reasonably waterproof with some work. I'd swear they actually suck heat out of you more than not wearing it in some instances. Couple of folk in my club wear them but OVER their leather jacket, not instead of. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. Bellstaff leathers were always top-notch.
I've come off many times in my bellstaff jeans and they stand up well.
They are now a fashion label so dunno. Older bellstaffs up to the mid-late 90's were proper motorcycle gear. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

I bought a Belstaff, waxed cotton, jacket in the early 80's.
As Stinkwheel said they are not warm, best worn over a leather jacket.
Once treated to a proper waxing mine was very waterproof, lasted about 10 years, had a bit of road rash and the cuffs eventually wore away.
Once wet it did have its own, distinct, smell.
You didn't need to hang it up, it could stand up on its own! ____________________ "Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money!" |

When I was looking, as said, motolegends had some good stuff.
I also liked the selection from Triumph - so long as you don't care if your kit matches your bike (or ride a Triumph ).
I ended up with a Furygan Texas jacket; not particularly any fashion period and not too obviously "bikey". I use it a normal coat with the back protector out sometimes, too. ____________________ Honda Varadero 125cc => Suzuki Bandit 650 33bhp => 77bhp =>
