Wouldn't want to do it on my own bike.

That said, G's KTM had two or three on it at one point and diddn't take my leg off.

I took the easier option on my GS500 and just cut a bit of swingarm out so the wheel slotted forwards further (the blue/black one, not the pink one Laughing )

A properly fitted hard rivet link is no different to the rest of the links on the chain.

Would it matter if the 2 rivet links are together?

If it is riveted correctly, it is the same as any other link.

You could have a chain made entirely from riveted links if you wanted.

Cant seem to find one to match the OEM Honda chain i got, which is DID. Could I mix X ring with the O ring?

If your current chain is X ring then it is probably a DID VX series. Should say something like 525 VX on the side of the links if it is.

So I got a price from Honda and the technician didnt recommend putting 2 in. Also, their chain alone is £103 but with sprockets in a kit its £77 Shocked

Get a new, longer, chain and sell the short one. I wouldn't ride a bike with more than one rivet link. Thumbs Up

By the way, you do not have to buy parts from Honda. Just count the right amount of links and get the same type from somewhere else. It gets expensive when you go and ask Honda, or any other motorcycle manufacturer, for help.

I know but sometimes they turn out cheaper, so I get a few quotes. The chain and sprocket kit i got was 20% off and cheaper than David Silver/ebay. Plus theyre only up the road to collect.

Of course he wouldn't, he wants to sell you a new chain and not a link.

I am curious... consider the shape of a link (rivet or snap), how does getting another help you? Even if you break the chain in another spot you'll still require a female part for the male link to connect to (obviously one side will be male the other female)

Question OP - Do you still have the offcut from shortening your chain?

That clip piece is the 'derp' link
