As some of you may know I'm restoring my first ever Honda H100s2.

Anyway i rebuilt the engine with all new bearings and seals and didn't get the cases clean while it was apart as i had no intention of doing a full bike strip down.

So rebuilt engine, dirty cases. What do i do to clean it? My guy who does aqua blasting won't touch it because of fluid contamination in case the oil leaks out despite the fact it empty.

Edit: should add i have a compressor but not use for cleaning. I have done soda blasting but this makes such a mess plus its cold and i want to do it in the garage

Can you not make blanking plates for the inlet/exhaust, and remove any rubber pipes and wiring etc, then throw it in a bath of coca cola for 2days to see if that helps?

I've found strong alloy wheel cleaner and a stiff brush good at alloy cleaning in the past, but it depends on the brand. They are a mild acidic cleaner which if properly rinsed off should cause no worries (disclaimer here!)

Don't use oven cleaner on the alloy, as despite the horror stories, I don't think it does much or is that effective on alloy anyway! It would probably have a good go at the steel or cast iron bits though!
