I've been quoted £130 rental + the £75 test fee for a MOD2 resit at Burgess hill the the instructor booking the test for around 14:00.

So I'd get the morning 08:00 to do some practising with him and then the test.

Does this seem like a reasonable price?

I have no easy way to get a big bike to the test centre as van hire is not cheap and I don't know anyone with a van/trailer I could borrow (or even a friend who could ride it to the test centre for me).

It's the going rate. He's not running a charity.

Is that 1:1 or 2:1?

I didn't think it seemed unreasonable considering, but £200 is a fair bit of money.

Really I should try and make some generous friends who ride bikes; however, I think that's going to be harder than spending money.

Test fee is set by DSA, bike hire prices can vary but not by much. Anything from £80-90 up to around £140. So yeah, reasonable enough in this case.

edit: It's worth pointing out that some riding schools might offer you a sweeter deal on bike hire if you've already purchased lessons from them, or you're returning to re-take a failed test.

Think I paid £155 for bike hire and test last summer but that was up north so it was probably a fair bit cheaper. Just pay what you've got to pay, it'll be worth it afterwards Very Happy

Three months ago I might have offered to ride your bike to the test centre. I have since moved and no longer live in Burgess Hill. Cool

If I can wait till easter or summer holidays I may be able to get a friend (teacher) to ride it down.

I understand bikesure will insure a big bike even if you're not fully licenced and I need to check to see if Bennets (current insurer) would do it under a multi bike policy.
