When Kitkat bitches that there's no enough space on the device to install or update an app, which partition does it refer to? Where do I need to find space? Why can Amazon app store find the space? Evil or Very Mad

Rooted Moto G 4G

Cheers

It's been a while since it's bothered me... but i guess it's referring to the device storage, rather than any SD card that you've inserted?

Have you moved everything you can (music, media etc) to the SD card and as many Apps as support the Apps2SD thing - to free up phone space?

Otherwise - clear out the 'downloads' folder, empty caches, and scrub off pointless Apps? to get some space back...?

But Android KK isn't really a big fan of that due to very limited support.

This is a decent App for seeing what is using up all your storage.

Where do I need the space System or Data? Both currently have 100s of megabytes free, but clearly some space needs clearing out.

Try uninstalling the updates in the Play store app through settings.

My old android phone (chinese S4 knockoff) had an issue where it would claim there was no space left despite having hundreds showing in the storage graph. Read it was a bug with play store, uninstall the updates and it will work...until it auto updates itself, then you have to uninstall it again each time you want to install something.

Not ideal but works in a sinch.

My HTC one (m7) has no problem with having 7 gig of apps on board. Seems it's KK not liking SD cards to hold apps but happy to run them with built in storage. I assume this was to keep the OS running smoothly and quickly rather than via sd cards that can slow stuff down . My Mrs Samsung S4 will only allow 2gb of apps due to the same reason but will happily store music/video/pics etc to the sd card
