One my pet hates is people you put thier fog lights on in light mist - or forget to turn them off, these would have me going mentalist, but on they might look cool on a supermarket car park during nightly burnouts in a corsa :/

Fog lights should be hard-wired into the ECU, so that whenever they're on you can't do more than 20mph.

I mean if its genuinely foggy enough to need foglights, then visibility will be so low you can't go any faster without it being dangerous.

The whole light thing is a pain, the new super lights in the past few years are a bit of a joke sometimes, they not only dazzle some of them actually hurt, I thought about replacing my visor with a reactive welding shield.. too many lights is not great, on a wet warm dark evening the whole of a busy road is just a sea of lights, filtering becomes mord hazardous because our head lights are lost in a wall of light, then you have the spaceship cyclists with no alignment on there 12trillion luna auto sun's. I thought about covering my self in one gigantic led so I'm just a orb of pulsating high energy plasma cutting a burning path of molten scorched earth through the night...

Because the standard lights weren't projecting enough through the spray to be seen from an adequate distance. Especially if the car was silver or grey coloured. The fact there was so much spray meant that even the fog lights weren't overly bright or dazzling, also it was during the daytime.

Some cars had no lights on at all and were almost invisible until you'd got dangerously close to them! Never mind the brake lights, got to see a car in the first place!

So if I drove alone the motorway at night with no lights on it'd be the person who smashed into the back of me (me's?) fault? G posted an exert which clearly states the MUST in situations of poor visibility, where does the responsibility lie?

We could get silly with hypotheticals here, and we just wouldn't bother driving anywhere ever at any speed if we were worried about that one person who decides to shun all the rules and could cause a crash.

I was simply commenting on how use of lights and indeed fog lights was particularly useful in this one situation I found myself in and how it made other road users more visible. I of course was driving to the conditions, maintaining an appropriate distance between myself and other vehicles, but you'd think any road user with half a brain would notice that lights make a big difference and they should have been using them!

It was only a few quid so I thought why not? (apart from the law probably and all that. but shhhh)
You could EASILY misuse one of these and cause mischief with it.
It's pretty bright . I thought it would be rubbish if I'm honest but was prepared to lose a few quid
finding out. Bang for buck it's quite offensively bright and powerful. When it comes on, you
just know without attempting that it's a bad idea to look directly at it. I may wire it in for lulz tomorrow.
Two wire connection. Slightly trickier if I want a dedicated switch but nothing I can't handle. But I imagine
if these catch on, then Mr plod won't take kindly if he finds one fitted to a bike. Quite a discreet unit
though, and possible to fit it better than with the fittings supplied if you're the practical type.
What's the dealio law wise Rogerborg? Does a laser count as a lamp or a light emitter??
Front facing this thing may interfere with the laser speed cameras maybe?
