Hi,

I've done a search and all topics are very old so i created a new one.

I have an inside leg of 34" and i need some new textile trousers for the commute. Most textiles found online are 33" at most so i'm looking to the community of lanky buggers on here to point me in the right direction. Budget can stretch to 150 if the quality is right.

Thanks

150 is very cheap for quality trousers. You'll be looking for something second hand IMO.

Good trousers are available in long and short leg variants for each waist size. Check out goretex trousers on a site like getgeared, you'll see the size charts have long and short versions, e.g.:

https://www.getgeared.co.uk/revit_motorcycle_trousers_neptune_long_gtx_black

https://www.getgeared.co.uk/held-motorcycle-trousers-arese-gtx-long

Rev-it size chart:

https://www.getgeared.co.uk/core/media/media.nl?id=10406&c=731612&h=dd82e1aae3979c43192b

Held size chart:

https://www.getgeared.co.uk/core/media/media.nl?id=4854&c=731612&h=5a1ad87bd4cca7d6e90e

Not recommending these trousers especially, just saying where to find long trousers. My normal trousers are 30 waist / 32 leg, and I wear Held's long-leg small-size trousers.

I am also 34" inside leg, and took a chance on some textile trousers on eBay.
I found them to be pretty good for length when walking around, but they do tend to ride-up a bit when riding - but only when wearing jeans underneath with the thermal lining removed and connected to the jacket with the zip - so not worth worrying about.

Had them over 2 years now, no problems with quality.

They have a separate Website where the prices are a bit less than eBay.

I have no connection with the company, other than being a happy customer.

Have you had a look at Hood Jeans?

https://www.hoodjeans.co.uk/

British Company that make fully line Kevlar jeans. Also do a smart black version for wearing in the office. I used to commute in the jeans and change into office clothes at work.

Priced about £119 for the Jeans, plenty of good reviews. But more importantly, they offer a free leg length service as they actually make the trousers, so give them a ring and I'm sure they'll make them longer

Rukka gear comes in three different leg lengths, C1, C2, C3 (C3 longest).

The lidl/aldi stuff generally comes with long legs because they are a German company. So someone with a 38" waist is more likely to be over 6ft than the shape of a beachball like you'd get in America and increasingly, the UK.

For a similar region, there is a greater space allowance in the crotch area.

I got some Lidl motorbike jeans last year and actually had to turn them up, I'm usually wandering around in half-masts.

No textiles advertised on the current Lidl special on the 2nd of March but keep your eyes peeled.

I have these and they are very good for the price, they saved my knee when I come off my bike in the ice as well.

Slightly over budget at £190-200, but furygan duke textile trousers are plenty long enough for me at 6' 3", with a 33" ish inside leg. The D3O armour is very good stuff too.

Thanks for the replies. I actually wrote this wearing my hood jeans. They have been my replacement since the crotch gave in on my old textiles. They are no good for winter though hence the post.

I will take a look at some of the suggestions above.

euro size 50 is a uk 32 in trs, for short leg they call them 25, for long leg 100, so look for size 100, 102, 104 etc

Pah! You'll be lucky.
Best thing to do is search online for overseas products. Sweden and the like, where lanky people are accepted and manufactured for.

I bridge-the-gap with walking gaiters - they are actually very good and cheap and transferable. Thumbs Up

Hey Clanger. Glad to hear your gaiter solution as I was planning to do this myself. Thumbs Up

It might be different to last year's stuff but the aldi textiles I started with weren't really long enough in the legs, the trousers would eventually ride up the top of my boots and wouldn't take much to ride over the top and let in huge amounts of water.

The jeans were plenty long enough but the textiles weren't.

I have a 36" inside leg and bought a pair of IXS textile trousers from J&S last year - I am pretty sure they are the Quasar II (https://www.jsaccessories.co.uk/quasar-ii-pants-black.html). They are waterproof and have a removable thermal liner. I have been wearing these in all weathers, and haven't had any issues with the waterproofing as yet. I got these to replace my old Joe Rocket textiles which were too short, but I had put up with for a couple of years.

My advice is to visit a couple of big accessories shops and try a few pairs on - I have found that even within a brand the sizing can vary quite considerably.
