 |
|
Heya,
I've just bought a second hand Akito Python textile jacket, its in good condition, but it quite dirty.
Just wondering if any one has got any tips on cleaning a textile jacket. was thinking of taking the padding and protective pads out and chucking it in the bath full of hot soapy water.
Cheers

Went into my local bike shop today and the woman there immediately told me my jacket was filthy. I told her I could shift the stuff off and she handed me a bottle of frank thomas clothing cleaner stuff. For free
I've got no idea if its worked yet, it says you're not supposed to put it in the washing machine, but I applied the stuff, rubbed it into the jacket, and then shoved it on a "special treatments" soft wash and dry on my washing machine. I'll need to see tomorrow if its made a difference or not.
P.S Do take out the protective padding, yes, otherwise it'll absorb the water....eurgh... Not too sure about soapy water, it may effect the water proofness of the jacket, but I believe you can buy some sort of clothing water repellent |

Take all of the armour out, make sure all pockets are done up and stick it in the washing machine on the coldest wash possible. ____________________ Past:NRG50,AF1125(x2),NSR125RR,ZZR250,CX500,VFR400,KR1S,ZZR600(x2),CB400N,YZF1000(x2),KH125,Z200,FX400R,CBR954RR(x2)GPZ500S,GT550,VFR750F(x2),RD350N,XR650R,CBR600F,CB250,KDX250,YZF750R,CRM250,400EXC,KLR650,TTR600RE,DR350S,R100GSPD,RGV250,VMAX1200,DL650,KZ750 Present:G650XC,C12,CRF450X,1190ADV |

Go to an outdoors type place and you will find this wash in stuff.. nikiwax/tech wash, in your coat there WILL be washing instructions, depending on how mankey the coat is a cold bath of water and then the washing machine (was @ 30degrees on mine)
Yes armour out though, wont do much good when its mush ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

Yup, use the nikwax wash and re-waterproofer. It is what I wash my climbing jacket with. It does work - very well.
For both bottles it will cost you around £10 and will do two washes. You use your washing maching - making it all so much easier
