Safety first, always.

But you will look like a complete penis.

Ultimately, your choice.

I commute in full RST Tractech evo two piece leather suit with leather gloves and those spaceman looking boots.

Crashed with textiles (they were bad quality textiles though), they disintegrated at 30mph. I have a feeling my leathers wouldn't disintegrate at that speed.

Go for leathers who gives a fuck what anyone else thinks.

Fall of a 125 at 60mph and it will probably hurt as much as falling off a Ducati 1299 at 60mph

Buy the best you can afford, the tarmac hurts a lot more without good gear. Leathers offer good all round protection against the road and the weather but keep them as clean and as dry as possible for best protection and long life.

That is questionable. A proper highsider on a 10 times bigger bike, may get you pretty high up in the air, before you hit the ground. Smile

Is that because a Ducati 1299 is 10 times higher than a 125?

Yep, gravity is a bitch, not to mention the threat of the knackers dry clutch and broken timing belts taking your head off.

I saw a guy on a 50cc scooter in one piece leathers the other day. Looked a twat, but if it's all he's got then might as well wear it.

Why anyone would judge people for what they ride or what they wear when doing so is beyond me. Do what makes you happy if it adds safety...why not.

If you want to wear it, wear it. Your bike, your gear, your hide it could potentially save. Thumbs Up

It looks a bit OTT if that's what you're worried about, but it's your skin, so take as many measures as you see fit to preserve it.

I'm kinda glad I see the local lads on YZF-R125s and RS125s getting clad up in leathers around here. Ignore what the others say about how leathers look gash on a small bike. The fact that you're doing the responsible thing (by buying alpinestars that is Laughing Thumbs Up ) says something. I rode in a 2 piece when I had my XR125 all those years ago since I felt that with the lack of experience I had, I was more likely to have an off! Although these days, unless I'm going for a long bimble or hoon, it's kevlar jeans and race jacket with boots.

The worst part about leathers is that if you start bulking up, or do a lot of sports etc, I've found that I tended to go up and down sizes! Alpinestars ain't cheap Wink

On a 125 , unless you are doing track stuff textiles make way more sense.

I think, regardless of what speed you fall off at, what kind of bike you have, It's what YOU feel SAFER wearing.

I think anyone wearing shiny aplinestars leathers looks a tad dumb - much more fun things to spend money on, when cheap leathers will likely do as good or better a job.

(Presuming they're not a sponsored racer or similar who has them provided, of course.)

Apart from that, if you want safety - learn to ride safely.

Leathers do offer an extra little bit, however.

But G, it's alpinestars! ALPINE STARS!

If you want alpinestars, get a set of used ones for £200-£300 and they'll last you a good decade or so!
