hi all

I was wondering if i could have your views on 2 bikes a friend of mine has found in his garage.

Both gorgeous if you ask me, first is a Ducati Desmo Pantah 500cc 1980 and the other is a GSXR 400 1990. both in perfect condition and look stunning.

He isnt a biker himself so he is obviously looking to get rid at some point, i've done some checks but not really too clever on the older bikes.

I'll give him tree fiddy and a half eaten bag of crisps.

It's a good offer you know, I think he should take it. Thumbs Up

I did contemplate a bidding war with Ste but after mulling it over - his offer is more than fair. Tell your friend to take it. Thumbs Up

Depends how long they have been sat for, and as always how much someone is willing to pay for them. If for a while they will need certain parts doing (tyres, oil, fuel, new battery etc) and perhaps will need many other bits doing such as carb rubbers and other small perishable parts which could prove hard to get hold of (expensive).

Does the owner know if they even run etc? Have they been sat for any other reason than no use or is it due to mechanical problems?

Both have bikes have a following (I'd be interested in the GSXR depending on what he wants for it!).

Basically youre asking a how long is a piece of string question.

Details on the little Gixxer including ballpark how much you want for it. Even if you're not a biker, (am guessing you are), you know what details a car buyer would want and you've researched both so if you'd communicate this, we can all have a look.

Alternatively, we could do this backwards and forwards thing on a forum.

sorry guys i didnt want to just pop on here and my first post being a for sale post, was more just after some history on these bikes and what they might fetch if in perfect condition.

As i said, i dont have much info but can certainly ask for more. i have more images too, i really like the ducati but i have no spare cash at the moment.

i do know that they both have recently expired MOT's so have obviously been used very recently and are both runners.

the only other Ducati Desmo i could find was on ebay, but it has a single pipe, is the twin standard or are they different models? i'll pop some more images up for you to have a look at.

Have you looked/asked here:-

https://ducatiforum.co.uk/forum/

Probably more specialist knowledge as far as Ducatis are concerned.
If you're googling the Ducati I'd drop the "desmo" from the search terms and just search for "pantah".

Anyway I'll up Marjay's bid by one pond!

Seriously the Ducati, depending on condition, has got to be worth a couple of K, as an absolute minimum!

Pantah could fetch £2.5-3k fully restored and sorted- on the right day, with the right buyer and if it wasn't in those colours.

I'm not 100% but I thought that the standard colours were silver with red decals or red. It's something worth asking on the Ducati forum when you get on it.

I thought they came in this colour:-

https://www.realclassic.co.uk/bikepix/pantah10081601.jpg

and possibly red, google images don't bring anything up in black, that looks standard!
