Just been reminded one of my machines still has an old V5 document.
Got the new type when I bought a bike recently but hadn't given any thought for the old bike.

Will the DVLA contact me or do I need to chase it up myself?

Thanks in anticipation Thumbs Up

I guess that they'll spend a wodge of cash on advertising in May, then leave you without a log book for several months as they get bogged down with the influx of old V5s...

No probs...I just went to the site, clicked on "English", then "Find Information" under Vehicle Information, then the fifth link down under "Registering Your Vehicle".

Don't worry about it, the DVLA will send you one with you having to do anything.

I had a new V5 a few days ago, didn't ask for it, just arrived.

As soon as you tax your bike the DVLA will automatically send you one within a few weeks.

And by June 2005 I believe most V5's will be replaced by V5C's.

I've just taxed my T-reg CB250, explains why the new V5 arrived, never thought of that.

Hi

You should get one when you renew your VED or declare SORN.

Where it becomes more difficult is if they bike has been off the road since before SORN came into force.

I have a bike I need to upgrade the log book on that was last on the road 40 years ago.

All the best

Keith

Hi

The difficult bit will be getting the new log book without having to declare SORN on the bike afterwards on a yearly basis.

All the best
