 |
|
Is it me, or does anyone else find it hard to keep up with new bike model's and specs of each model as they revise them? Or maybe you have no interest in new bike releases or development?
I still read a few mags, and look out for new stuff that interests me, but it's mostly classic bikes of one description or another that I know of, know about or like to read/research about.
An example for me is 1000cc and 600cc sports bikes. I did keep up with every new model release and the spec sheets until circa 2004/05, but since then I've had zero interest or knowledge about each model and each revision or new design, and for example I could not tell a K7 GSXR1000 from a K9 model just by seeing them, or a 2015 Blade over a 2012.
Is anyone else like this with newer bikes, and does it bother you or do you not care?
I didn't think 1000cc sportsbike development past 04/05 was relevant to road use or that the bikes were every going to get any better or more worth having over the 10year old models these machines are now. Did they ever get better as road machines, and or more useable/friendly/easier to ride? or was it just more BSB spec and fuck road manners after this?
Did 600's get any better either, or just different but not necessarily more worth having? |

I don't have much interest in very new bikes. They haven't changed that much those past 10 years.
Also new is 3x more expensive than 10 years old, but is nowhere near as much better.
I also like the look of the bikes from 2004-2009 period the most - Daytona 675, CBR1000RR4-7, 08-09 R1, CBR600RR7-8, GSXR1000 05-06, 05 ZX6R.. under-seat pipe era Then the bikes got more ugly - though 899, 1199 are nice looking bikes. ____________________ Current Bike: Yamaha XSR900 Previous bikes: Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade, Kawasaki ZX-6R Ninja, Aprilia RS125 2-stroke |

Thd problem is is that everything new is dull and boring, with the odd exception. The only recent bikes that have made me raise an eyebrow are the MT07 and the RC390, although I'd want it in 690 form. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of bikes I like, but not much makes me go "ooh, I'd like to know more". Manufacturers need to grow balls and stop playing safe. Oh and while I'm at it, the more computer crap a bike has, the less I'm interested, and no I'm not old! ____________________ I want your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle.

I'm still pretty green and yep, that's pretty much my opinion too. I can worry about computer assisted everything when I'm older, richer and more inclined to worry about coming off.

Yes they do make the bike look cool, also they keep pillion part of the seat warm from what I hear! Shame they eat all the storage space below but meh, can't have it all... ____________________ .
