I have a HP small form desktop, using display port and VGA to output to 2 monitors.

I've not got a 3rd, the only thing I can see to add a 3rd is to get one of these... https://uk.startech.com/AV/Splitters/DisplayPort/DisplayPort-to-Dual-DVI-Multi-Monitor-Adapter-Male-to-Female-DP-to-2x-DVI-3840x1200~SP122DP2DVI

Evidently I don't want to spend that much, its for work so cheaper the better. I need to run 3 monitors and can't seem to find a decent option. Anyone here have any luck running 3 monitors?

I have HP displayport to single DVI going to my 22inch monitor, vga going to my 19inch and my 2nd 19inch had VGA and DVI in if that helps.

Thanks Smile

What sort of graphics card does it take or can it can?
You might be better of getting a 2nd hand card with dvi and hdmi, then using whatever is onboard for the 3rd?

I kind of run four monitors. Kind of. I have two computer systems and they're linked by Synergy. I find it works well. I get all the benefits for just twice the electric bill. Laughing

Probably should have read this thread, before starting my own Smile.

First off, you can get a USB 3 VGA lead for £36.

Also similar unbranded ones for £10.
(Or £6.50 from China.)

I'm quite tempted by a 'seconds' one maplins has for £35, though I'm not entirely convinced by it's claims (namely that you'll get decent 1080p video on USB2).

I think it's mathematically possible at least.

From your links - Uncompressed 1080p = 1.49Gbit, USB2 = 480Mbit.

Which would suggest that you do need USB3 Smile.

For some reason if you look at the MB/s figures it works out, but clearly the numbers you quoted are very different. I've no idea, I'm not a computer orientated guy. Laughing

It is OK, I have found a solution... guy here had a Matrox 4 mini displayport card, 3 minis to displayport > dvi > monitor.

Works grande Mr. Green
