Xperia E3 - How to install apps to the SD card as default

Is there a simple way to do this?

I got the phone as a temp while I was waiting on my insurance sorting me out with a replacement phone... I stupidly didn't check the phones internal memory and after installing a few apps the memory is full (1.72gb)

I know I can 'move' the apps to the SD card but I need a way for them to install directly to the SD card as I can't install any large apps as there is only 400mb free on the internal memory.

I have googled etc and found an app (which cost £1.50) but it crashes when I select 'Install apps to SD card by default'

Surely there is a simple way to do this as it's rather annoying!

I haven't worked out to move the apps to the SD card on my Z2 so can't help you.

It was a damn site easier with Samsung

From kit kat and above the default for app storage is on the internal memory like old versions but apps like move to sd don't work, on most devices even apps that you move to sd won't have all the data moved, my cheap Huawei seems to move all the apps data though but it has a custom ui and many very good factory management apps

You can set the default storage location to be the sd card but new apps will still try to install some data on the internal storage and if the app isn't compatible with kitkat and above it will be nigh impossible to move it to sd.

My phone comes with facebook, twitter, games, document viewers all the google apps etc but they all update straight out of the box eating up internal memory so I uninstalled what I could do without and stopped updates on the play service and youtube (the only ones left installed).


unfortunately the only way to re arrange internal storage is to root the phone to delete all the junk that you don't want, and use adb to delete apks from the factory image (not tried myself yet), you can then I believe resize the user space to get more use from the internal storage.

I have been wondering if you could use the user folder as a mount point for an sd card so android sees the default install location intact but everything including background data goes to the sd card.

I have my steam folder set up that way in windows so my second hdd is my steam folder you can keep the drive letter too if you want it visible under my computer.

Once it is set up all games still install using the default folder location settings so you don't have to faf about whilst installing stuff, as far as windows is concerned it is going via the c drive.
