With promotion looming, the draw of something newer than 15yrs old is getting too great Razz

I really like the naked version 2010 onwards... really chunky looking but also considering something faired for trips with the mrs. Good bikes? Anythin to look out for?

Can be had for a right bargain due to the 09 and tracer coming along and making the Fz8 range pointless in the line up.

Still a good bike and be half faired one looks smart

I have had a naked one since June and love it. Decent amount of power and good with a pillion. I fitted a screen and belly pan.

I have had Fazer 600 and both generations of the 1000s as well and the 800 is a nice compromise for the road

My dad has an FZ8 (I've ridden it more than him I think) and it's not bad, suspension leaves a lot to be desired as it's fairly basic and there's no top end scream just torque from really low down. Very sit up and the bars like to try to straighten up so leaning can be a hassle.

Suppose I didnt really consider the litre as though it would be too big for me engine wise.. not long passed.

Had to google that, turns out there's an FZ-07 and FZ-09, the American versions of MT-07 and 09. Same with the XJ6 being the FZ6R, I suppose they like to keep the letters the same to stop American's heads from exploding in the dealership, terrible mess otherwise. Wink

a vote for fz1
it lacks any real power at the bottom end of the revs so if you ride below 7.5k its a real calm safe ride,it does get a bit smash and grab after that though.
all the fz's have low pegs so you will rub them on the ground if you get enthusiastic.
also you might find a nice one with some fools bling on it(to sell on ebay) because the owner really wanted an r1.
even though some parts are based on r1 parts ,an fz1 is nothing like an r1
i had mine for 5 years bought it new for £7k and sold it on last month with with high miles for £3k
try one before you try the fz8
they are worth a look and insurance wont be to different

I believe the FZ7 is the MT07, a 75bhp parallel twin

As far as I can see. The FZ1 has the better suspension and engine but weighs pretty much the same.

I had an FZ1 Fazer for a while and I can confirm it was a complete pussycat unless you wound it up very deliberately, where it was pretty fucking swift (eye openingly so). That jekyl/hyde thing is pretty interesting.

I trade bikes for a second job and I have a feeling that the FZ1 weathers depreciation qutie a bit better. That's not a scientific fact, more of a feeling based on research but something to think about.

You can easily grab a spanker of an FZ1 with super low mileage for £4000. I would test both but recommend the FZ1 over the FZ8. It has more of a personality and is ultimately more capable.

They don't really have a faired equivalent if we are talking inline 4... VFR otherwise.. CB1000R if naked fz1 I guess
