That's the cost of local recovery plus a new battery.

true true.. but for those days where bike's not been used for a while and battery goes flat I'm sure it might come in handy for the convenience if nothing else.

Popped it on my wish list anyway.

I'd be interested to see it working.

I image it would probably give a couple of cranks before being as flat as a fart.

if your starting it at home then something like a traditional Jump starter would be my choice.

https://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3603150.htm

its less then half the price too

I have a 'Maxim Auto Jumper' that does the same thing, but only cost just under £20

So far, I have used it several times on my car, once on the bike, and several times on other people's cars.

If won't fix a dying battery, but it will get you going if you have a senior moment and leave your lights on all day.

Nope - I bought it new in 2010 from Stax in Oldbury, and it was definitely under £20.

I don't think that model is made any more, but there are similar ones on the market for about the same price - like 2 on Amazon (Jump Genie) for £19.96 and £22.95, and This One for £17.95

Current unit is seeley pro one with it 3 19A hour battery in 8 years

I just testing a 24Ah unit like that one but from Ebay for £35 ish they were even cheaper if you got it direct from China !

They do work, and work well in short bursts, good enough to start most things if the battery is just flat. Endless cranking would melt something I think.

You can get Chinese Li-ion ones for £59 now.
I have a Micro-start xp-1 which is £150 and I've used it to jump start everything from a Vespa to a 6-ton diesel excavator. Also charged my phone and tablet from it from half-flat to full.

I keep a charged van battery in my shed, and some jump leads. That's gotten me out of trouble plenty of times.
I also use it to power a 12v flourescent inspection lamp and also a small 12V tyre inflator when I am out in the shed tinkering

The battery on the bike surprised me, I last ran the bike in October and started it up for the first time
last Sunday. It started up first press, starter didn't even sound laboured, I honestly thought I'd need to
take it off for a charge.

A chunky lead-acid battery is a handy thing to have in your workshop, but we're taking about something you can safely put in your pocket or under the seat on your bike.
