This happened to me quite a few times now. The worst ''blind corner surprise'' was when I found about 25-30 five-seven year olds and their ''teacher'' walking in the middle of nowhere, on the wrong side of the road. If there was a car or even a lorry going in the opposite direction, I'd have no where to go and quite frankly, I'd choose to run over the kids, rather than doing a head on collision at 55mph (the limit) with a lorry.

70% of vehicles on that road are lorries, it's the main link between CZE and Slovakia, not even cyclists ride there.

Coming round a 60mph bend and being confronted with an ambling horse is a real danger round my way.
Sure they crap all over the road (thanks for that by the way, how about a nosebag style thing on the other end?)
so good obs will get you thinking horses, but they do tend to be 2 abreast and under the 'control' of sometimes
very young children (Far too young to drive, or have much road sense) forcing you onto the other side of the road
to avoid them.
If there's a Corsa full of baseball capped neds coming the other way at 70+ (also a very real danger while they try
get around the lanes without slowing for anything whatsoever) then it's decision time.
'Do I ride into this horses arse or this car full of dicks?'

I think the horse would be the most surprised tbh.

Cansa is completely correct!
Bike and rider avoided a collision, therefore riding at the correct speed!

The comments from the YooToobers, who haven't realised the camera is on a car and not a bike, say it all really.

I just think the rider was lucky.
The parked car clearly took him by surprise which in my view makes his road positioning slightly wrong, I don't think speed was the issue.
Being a tad closer near the center line would have given him a better view with a bit more time to avoid with a bit more control which in turn would have made a possible head on with oncoming traffic more avoidable.

Avoiding a collision != driving at a suitable speed, I seen a video of 2 guys hooning down a motorway the other day, crossing over all the lanes and in-between cars, they avoided collisions somehow but it doesn't mean what they were doing wasn't retarded.

He goes fully over onto the other side of the road, which means there was a pretty large slice of luck with his skill.

The fact he wasn't potatoed doesn't mean he was riding sensibly. I'm pretty sure you should be able to stop in the distance you can see, not "veer onto the wrong side of the road and hope nothing is coming the other way" in the distance you can see.

Still, he did well to avoid it at that speed. No harm done but expect he might go round the next one slower, once he's removed his undies from his intestines.

I think the rider avoided it accidentally. I think he braked and stood the bike up, which took him around the car.

I have no idea what he was doing with his left foot. His positioning wasn't great, and he made a show of looking like he almost fell off earlier in the video.
