Just been to view a motorbike

the HPI check i did showed outstanding finance .

now seller said it was paid off but it would take up to 6 weeks for this to
clear for the online checks .

i really want the bike as it was an excellent price but .....

what are you thoughts ?

its crazy its the buyer responsibilty and not the sellers , it them who sign the agreements and then sell on illegally , and the finance company that make the money from the risk of loan .

It may take weeks to clear the hpi system but within a few days they will have received a final statement if they really have paid it off.

Ask to see that.

This, also try and find out who the finance company is and explain the situation, they may or may not talk to you.
If he hums and haws when asked about it walk away, its probably cheap for a reason.

ok , i am going to pull out of this one .

the finance was taken out on june 2014 , when i pointed out this
he said he took a loan out and paid it last week .

so could be true or he is a quick thinker , but tbh its not worth the risk for
£2500 .

£7 wasted on the check but i suppose that is what its for .

If he took a loan out from the bank then I don't think it would show on a hpi check against the bike, I may be wrong there though. Sounds dodgy I would do what your doing and walk away.
