Hi.

Does anyone know the legality or process of re-registering an already registered bike?

The bike in question has a 1958 featherbed frame, which was road registered in 1982 but NOT on an age-related reg.

Reason for this is pre 1960 means no MOT or TAX required.

Thanks

as it's not an original bike with original engine you may struggle,

owners club is the best point of call - the DVLA won't care that it's historic, conversions were all the rage etc.

What is it registered as?

If it's already on the books as a 650cc Norton, that might help.

But I'm probably out of date. Start with the Norton Owners' Club. They've seen this picture hundreds of times.

Do you have a V5C with your name on it that says that?

If so, I'd suggest that your first problem is getting shot of that liability.

If not, I'd leave it up to the DVLA to figure out that 1958 frame has been registered before.

I would;

Change chassis no and engine no on logbook to randoms/pitbike numbers

Send to DVLA.

Recieve new logbook with wrong frame and engine numbers on it.

Get dating cert for frame showing 1958 bike.

New NOVA application/V55/5 application & go from there.

Take old logbook down to breakers yard and persuade them that a pile of scrap tubing you have is actually this bike and they'll issue a certificate of destruction. Fictional bike is then in the eyes of the DVLA non existant

Pray DVLA don't realise that the frame/engine numbers have been registered before.

Recieve new age related plate and fresh logbook. Logbook will show first registered in 2015 though because lulz.
