Its quite clearly a scam, it couldn't be written more like a scam unless it was signed "Nigerian General".

I'd say only ever do bike deals in person with cash or maybe a bank transfer. Just far too much risk involved otherwise.

Scaaaam

If it looks like Sh!te, Smells like Sh!te .. it probably is...

Probably a hacked PayPal account, so as soon as he gets the scooter, real owner claims money back through paypal..

Also... just the way its worded is weird.

"Sorry mate, i'd do bank transfer.."

"Sorry but im away on assignment.. so i cant do a bank transfer on my computer so i'll do paypal on my computer"

And all the urging you to make a paypal account...

SCAAAAM

Totally legit, if you Google "I'm quite satisfied with the condition and price, and I need you to understand that i am willing and ready to purchase it right away" then you can see that this chap is interested in buying loads of bikes, cars, vans, caravans, boats... Whistle

Laughing

Whenever someone asks that, it's always a scam!

Reading the first line of your post confirms that. You must be new to the internet?

He'll waste your time a bit more. You can try and take up some of his, but I doubt you'll get a fish-on-head picture. Live the dream though.

Any communication with the words 'my shipping company/agent', especially on Gumtree will almost certainly be a scam.

What they would do, if you told them to proceed and gave your email address, is send you an email with a paypal link - which if you click through shows what looks like a very genuine paypal page showing payment to you.
Obviously being the astute netGod you are, you know never to click through on emails but open a new browser page and go to (in this instance) paypal - whereupon your 'buyer' can scream till he's blue in the face that he's paid you but if it doesn't show on paypal... you know the rest!

If you are a sadistic sod you can have loads of fun baiting scammers, no reward for it other than knowing they think they've got a hook and that you are wasting time they could be spending scamming someone who'll actually fall for their tripe.

'If I were to proceed, more than likely the buyer would send the payment via PayPal plus the transportation fees but would freeze the funds. They will then ask you to transfer payment to the courier via a money transfer service and after they have confirmed they have received it, they will release the payment. Of course they provide you the courier’s account number and “information”.

Obviously, they are not after your car but instead the amount for the transportation cost. This is just another form of the inheritance/prince/frozen account/check cashing scam with, maybe, a more believable scenario.'

There you go.

Cash in hand or not at all.

So 10% of his customers want their money back? Avoid even if he's not planning to scam you.

Obvious from miles away it's a scam with a wall of text like that.

I'd never sell my bike to someone long distance either, unless they came and viewed the bike, paid in cash, then got it picked up via courier later on. Otherwise, cash in hand, face to face only.

If you ship to an address that is not setup on the buyers paypal account, paypal will not cover your losses.
