Office workers that ride to work

Right you lot, do any of you ride to work where you have to wear corporate clothes, i.e. suits?

The reason I ask is I do, and I always have my suit, shoes, etc. in my back-pack, but it does tend to get a bit crushed, so I was looking for tips!

I leave my suit jacket at work and wear my leathers with my EDZ undersuit. Found that my clothes get all sweaty and horrible when ive been riding with them on underneath!

I have a tankbag which is big enough to keep clothes flat, neatly folded, and i imagine is a lot better than a rucksack in so much as they lie flat not slumped in the bottom.

Try using cardboard cut into a custom shape to make them hold their shape if need be.

I have some textile pants that fit over my trousers very nicely. Though If i had to change we have safe lockers that we can use.

Get yourself an oxford tankbag Fran.

Cheap and cheerful, can be put on and taken off in less than 30 seconds. Comes with waterproof cover and can hold lots.....probably your work clothes and 2 pairs of shoes.

£25 of ebay I believe.

Since the last office I worked at went casual, I'd just turn up in my bike gear. Prior to that I'd have the shirt & tie under the jacket, plus trousers & shoes in the topbox.

hein gericke are selling oxford tailpacks (2004 range) half price and from as little as £10!

If you dont have a shop near you I can get one and post it on!

You can get a one piece armoured water proof that zips up the legs as well as the front.

This means you can get it on and off without playing about so much, so might leave clothing less creased; should definitely be less hassle.

If I had further than a mile and a half to go to work I'd be tempted.

An american company called aerostitch make a "roadcrafter" suit, it has a zip going from the top to the bottom of the left leg.. you put one leg in, do the zip up to the top, thats it!

Two problems, a bit pricey (but defenately worth it) and in america, but get the sizes right and it shouldn't matter... tey are excelent to deal with, i'd buy right now if i had the cashola.

I solved this problem by buying a ZZR complete with panniers. At the start of my week I take all my stuff to work and leave it hanging in a locker. Then I can ride any bike I fancy for the rest of the week and on my last day I bring it all back on the ZZR again (of in a rucksack if I want a fun bike).

I just attended a v. posh birthday party at a golf club and I went all suited and booted.

Suit jacket in my rucksack, along with my shoes. Shirt and tie underneath my textile jacket, posh trousers underneath my waterproofs.

Got there looking slick after a bit of jiggery pokery in the car park.

And wandered in carrying boots, a helmet, a bag and a jacket.

I used to, and as has already been said I kept my good stuff (skirt/pants, jacket, shoes, tights) at work - Jacket over the back of my chair, shoes under the desk and the rest in a drawer.
That meant I just neede to either wear a top/blouse under my bike stuff or carry it with me.

Since I became self employed though I have a conflict - I can dress more casually but I have to carry more stuff with me (files and paperwork for each client and my laptop) so I usually cop out and take the car, especially if I am visiting more than one client on the same day!

Hmm, pair of texile/waterproof trousers can got over trousers no probs.

Textile jacket with the inner lining removed has worked for me in the past.

But as a biker you're expected to be slightly sweaty anyway. Live up to peoples expectations

I used to find that it was better to leave the jacket in the office. The trousers and shirt went in a ruck sack. To stop them getting creased I rolled them instead of folding them, seemed to be the best answer for me.

I have one of the suits G mentioned. Only worn it about 10 times, but it is good - you put on the jacket bit, do up the leg zips, you're in.
There are some problems though. Its ultra bulky, just about fitted into a pannier on the VX800. Cost about £120. I think its made by frank thomas, might not be though.

Though I do use a tailpack to carry my footwear or I leave it at work.

I don't bother too much hassle, just drive to work in the car and I never have a problem with suits being creased.
