Very small article in the April edition bike magazine, the Gas Gas Contact

I'm struggling to find anything online though, as every search I do takes me to pages for the contact details for bike dealers Rolling Eyes

anyway, I like the sound of the specs, weighs under 70kilos, 2 stroke "dual purpose" trial/trail bike

anyone got any links to more info? I fancy one as a toy in addition to my CRF

Okay, managed to find a smidge more info.

Looks to be really impractical and no good reason at all to own one, other than fact that I really really want one Laughing

You can get 'long range' options for a variety of bikes.

I'd like one of these for my Beta:
https://www.beta-uk.com/index.php/component/virtuemart/beta-factory-parts/002012816000-detail?Itemid=0
You get a tank and high seat in one unit which fairly quickly detaches for doing more serious trials stuff.
Don't want to pay new prices, however!

Oh and should note that plenty of people have DIY'd it - some extra foam, maybe on a bit of wood to raise it up a bit and a couple of 1l metal fuel bottles that can be emptied into the tank.

This one would be better for trail riding : https://www.ossausa.com/motorcycles/ossa-explorer-280i/

7.6 litre tank as standard, 74kg and 280cc engine!

cool, that does look the business.

I've just started buying TMX paper from WHSmiths, I'm hooked with this off road malarkey.

I'm crap at it too. Laughing I'm like someone who watches premiership football on the sofa on a Saturday, then plays for losers united in the indoor 5 aside league on a Weds evening.

Great fun though. Very Happy

Tis fun, doesn't matter if you're any good as long as you enjoy it! If you get a trials bike you will improve a LOT more than just riding your local trails, (assuming you actually do some trials of course!).

We get a really varied range of skills on our guided tours, from ex trials riders that always ace the hill climbs to people that have never ridden off road before, see bottom of page https://ridelimousin.com/guided_trail_bike_hire.html for total novices that still enjoyed it!

I have revised my opinion, the bike that I am now aiming to get is the GasGas TX 200 Randonne

well, whatever I end up getting, (current budget £3.5k) my Honda CRF250L was officially retired from green lane duties yesterday.

Spent a day riding it on green lanes from into Essex and back, survived.

Will get road tyres put on it and use it as transport. Won't really get looked at again until June now.

So scouting around for a lighter more capable trail bike, maybe one that I can use on pay and play sites too.

GasGas, Beta. Second hand KTM, oh the agony of choice. Confused

Personally, I'd go for a KTM EXC 2 stroke (200 for fun, 300 for 'easy') and a road legal trials bike with long range stuff for more 'trialsy' stuff, though consider a Pampera.

interesting, I've been canvassing opinions in various places, and amongst the noise and sarcasm and joshing, KTM EXC 2 stroke has had quite a few mentions.

Actually, I always say KTM because I've always had them, partly because a lot of their parts are compatible with each other across loads of models.

But for value, normally the Gas Gas EC range is a bit cheaper.

The 300s usually provide loads of low down grunt, making for a very tractable ride.
You do lose out on the use of engine braking on the 2 strokes, but gain on being very light.

3.5 litre fuel tank is a joke, no matter how comfortable they make it you wont be going far with only 3 litres of fuel Laughing

I can fill my EXC and spend the day in the mountains without even worrying about fuel, plus if you get good you can throw the 100kg enduro bikes around just like a trials bike just google Graham Jarvis or Jonny Walker Thumbs Up

After suffering main bearing failure and having the rear suspension shear whilst out on a ride I felt the bike was no longer viable. Getting Ossa to agree to take it back has been a bit of a battle but thankfully it's now resolved.

Got back from N.Z phoned up the local trials place, to find the GasGas had gone bust. Rolling Eyes
