Just been caught by a fine camera.

Wandsworth Road is closed for roadworks halfway down. This means the road is a giant carpark but motorcyclists can whizz down the outside of the traffic including going around the outside of pedestrian bollards which is illegal. As I was part of a 'convoy' of bikes doing this on the day I was caught, everyone else will have been caught as well except possibly for the bike I was following which may have had its plate obscured by my bike (in one of the piccies).

From looking at the pics, I'd suggest the cameras are specifically set up to do this. The reason is the position and point at which the camera took a shot of my reg plate is at a choke point where buses and cars meet and bikes can't get through so go the wrong way around the pedestrian bollard.

So if you're part of the commuting crowd, I'd just suggesting watching out because lots of us do it. Personally, I'm just waiting for the next 10 or so to come through my letterbox.

Easy prey, that one, it's an absolute offence. Even easier than speeding.

Is the sign clearly visible in the picture? Can we see it?

Are you being mugged by the "parking" goons? FPN tithe, no points?

Shit i've been doing that every day this week on that road. Guess I can expect an extortion note in the mail too.

That's put a right damper on my weekend now. Sad Think i'll take Nine Elms Lane on monday instead.

So in these events do you typically request the pictures when the FPN arrives?
Or is it just some local farces who provide photographic evidence to us Speeding, law breaking Heathens?

I would have been interested to see the evidence they had for me doing in 36 in a 30.
However since they named the stretch of road I often did do 40mph down, and the time, fair cop. Laughing

30mph dual carriageways are fucked up though.

Just after the Railway bridge? I was caught by the camera there doing the same back in around 2009.

...now you tell me!

In terms of the other elements, they took 6 piccies of me going past it. The camera is set up, pointing down from lamppost height.

And I've been solidly doing this, sometimes in a convoy of bikes since the roadworks started.

The council could fix the choke point making it possible for bikes to get by or not help and simply fine everyone. The joys of Sarf London.

I can count the number of times a year I go the wrong side of a keep left sign on one hand, and I still got caught by a council camera last year. It's a 3-pointer if plod catches you and wants to book you for it. Council can't give you points though.

It's not worth it IMO. When making progress, I consider it cheating Smile

Those islands are probably the single biggest reason I value turning circle over absolute narrowness in London. All too often you need to switch to the other side of the cars to get through.

The Metropolitan Police Service has decided it would be wrong for officers to continue with enforcement in some boroughs when their colleagues - perhaps only 100 yards away over a borough boundary - are following a diametrically opposite policy.

Consequently, they have told London Councils that they will cease enforcing moving traffic offences anywhere in the capital, including boroughs in which the local council are not doing so either.

vehicles which are uninsured and unregistered will of necessity be absent from the database which the local authorities use for identification purposes. Therefore, only inherently honest vehicle owners will be targeted while the unscrupulous can career around the capital free of hindrance.

Just saying... Whistle
