Hi all,

I'm considering getting back into biking after 1 year bike less and so looking for a bike. My previous bike was a Hornet 600 which was great apart from the short tank range and on long journeys It would be uncomfortable. I generally do 30% town 70% A roads/motorway journeys and some touring. I'm looking for a bike that is not much slower than the Hornet but is more practical on long journeys in terms of comfort and range without sacrificing much of the grin factor. So far I have on my list the Vfr 800 99-03. I have up to 3.5k to spend on the bike and would want something that is not priced silly in terms of insurance. What bikes do you recommend ?

Yam FZS1000 02-05. Still some nice examples out there at around £2.5k or less. Great tourer, fast, comfortable, is ok in traffic, good everyday bike if your riding isn't predominantly town work, but copes ok with that too.

CBR600F is not the answer to everything...

You left the criteria wide open so:

GSX 650
GSF 1250SA
CBF1000
DL1000 V-Strom
FZ1
CBR 100XX Blackbird

All can be had under £3.5k Thumbs Up As for insurance well that's an unknown variable. I pay £70ish a year fully comp for the ST1100.

No, but "Y U NO CBR600F" is a genuine question, and the answer to it may inform more targeted advice.
