My favourites at the moment are Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsas, but everyone has their own favourite.

^^ This

My favourite is Michelin Pilot Power 3

I didn't like the wooden feel of Pirelli tyres.

Tyre wear and I just dont like them especially when cornering, thought it might have been the pressures but they have been topped up and still no luck

It was more of a question about why change if you were happy? As it is you say you didn't like them in the corners, then it is time to try something new.

Maxxis are very steep going off what I have read, can't say it's been a problem for me.

Depends how you use the bike.
Mainly commuting or weekend scratching, the best of both is Pilot Road 3's, not used Pilot Road 4's as i understand they have a harder compound which makes it more of touring tyre.

I got about 10,000 miles out of a Pilot Road 3 rear tyre on the S1000RR when i had it, with lots of motorway miles.

You either didn't ride hard enough to get heat into them or the pressures were too high (which means they don't get warm enough)

Agreed with PR3s BTW. Thumbs Up

Yup, I rate them too. Mine have done a little shy of 10,000 miles and I am just thinking of replacing them for something fresher as they are three years old and have a few nicks in them. They still have oodles of tread left though Thumbs Up

I replaced the original tyres on my GSXR (from new) with the same, Bridgestone Battleax's as I remember. In my ownership I tried a few types, but found the Bridgestone suited it best. The Metzelers I disliked most - if I could have justified the cost I'd have ditched them after just a few miles and gone back to Battleax's.

I didn't have great experience with Pirellis.

Long time ago I had Pirelli Diablos and I didn't particularly liked them. They were ok I suppose.

Last time I had Pirellis was when I bought them with my Fireblade. I didn't like a feel of them even after long over 1 hour ride when they were warm. Later I discovered they were 10 years old tyres - Pirelli Diablo Corsa (came with the bike from the factory Laughing ). maybe something to do with the age of the tyres.

I use Michelin Pilot Power 3 (had a few sets). I just got used to them.

Bridgestone S20 Evo are the tyres I would like to try.

Another vote here for Diablo Rosso Corsa's, had them on my last gixxer 750, great tyres.
Do people rally get 10k out of any tyre, how do you ride a bike to get that? Didn't even get that from the pneumants (remember them lol) on the old MZ!

I know I'm a stuck record on many things, but agree with this. Lacked confidence due to wooden feeling with Rosso Corsas. Then found somewhere where I could spend 2-3 hours buzzing about at 60-100 consistently and they came alive, sliding the rear as it unloaded into corners, but with loads of feel and very predictable.

Great tyres, but I just couldn't use them properly on roads where I live (ie with lots of traffic and a lower average speed).

Got PR4's on both bikes now and REALLY happy with them.

I used a couple of sets of Maxxis tyres (DiamondMaxx on my XJ-6, whatever sports touring ones that came with the FZ6) so I was in a similar position to the OP.

I then tried Pilot Road 3 rubber on the recommendations of people on this forum, another forum and several riders I know or those I didn't but had casual conversations with.

I must say they're very, very good for people like myself who do higher mileages in all weathers but still want excellent cornering and low speed control even when the tyres aren't fully warmed up. In fact even during the initial 100 mile break in they still felt better than the other two Maxxis sets. Confidence inspiring is the phrase.

What I didn't really like about the Maxxis tyres was the understeer on corners - it really felt like you had to work the bikes more, yet conversely I felt I didn't want to lean even in warm conditions with dry tarmac because the stability wasn't there. In the wet it was far too easy to unsettle the bike, especially the heavier XJ-6 - even in light to medium rain getting too grabby with the throttle made the bike wobble about on several occasions that nearly had it over.

As a result of all this I'd be very surprised if I would have Maxxis rubber on any of my bikes again. Just didn't suit me at all. Sure they work great for some people, just not this newbie.

Gentle throttle hand?

I don't get much past 8k before I enter MOT failure territory on rears. I estimate I could get 10k out of fronts, but I change them at the same time to keep them in sync. I definitely couldn't do a 2:1 ratio of rears to fronts. I don't do any better on scooter tyres either. Tyre changes are a yearly thing, VFR changes in spring (BT023, PR3, didn't notice much difference in grip, more of a shoulder between compounds on the BT023 when worn), SH changes in autumn (Feelfree Wintec my current favourite).
