Old divvys are ok from a mechanical stand point the engines are solid.
Few things i used to see consistently (Yamaha trained mechanic) exhausts rot like crazy if its been switched out for stainless its will be fine.
Fork seals arnt the best, the dust seal shrink letting water sit on top of the oil seal, they swell and pinch eventually causing a leak.
Old divvys had fairly mediocre brakes, not in the way they work...just what they actually were, caliper corrosion can be an issue especially around piston dust seals.
Its an old bike so just do the normal things, but if its been a while a fresh change of fork oil and brake fluid will transform the bike
All the best

Great bikes.
But not at that price.. Knock it down to £500 tops and it would be worth it. ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

So, it looks like it's had the right work done - downpipes look OK, but view carefully in good light. Take money, offer as much as it appears to be worth, enjoy. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Thanks all, have noticed fork seals are a weak point on a few ive seen, will finally have the mod 1 money next week (payday), so that will be getting booked. Eager to get one but wonder if I should hang on and sell the CG when test is past, then my budget would be around £1600.
