Shocker / linkage problems

Hoping some body can shed some light my shock absorber has/had a plastic cap with numbers on to adjust the damping which it didnt just turned it is done by using a tool or c spanner from the top by look of it.. KMX 125 ..

I have lost this cap and curious will the shock the same without and be safe the Haynes manual doesnt say also i have fitted new sleeves to the suspension linkage arm used Moly grease to lube them as stated in the Haynes manual and up on fitting there is a gap between the arm and where it mounts to the bottom of the frame when tightened down just enough so it moves side to side lightly probably not even a mm is this normal?

Its the same for the suspension rods that bolt to the swingarm there is a gap when tightened.. I cant seem to find out from looking at pictures and in the manual would any pictures help

Some side movement won't affect the operation so long as the seals stop water getting in to the bearing full stop Don't know about the cap full stop Might be just a cover with numbers on it comma sounds like it's just a cover and the numbers tell you how what your prehyphenload settings are full stop
