Hello, i've still got my gilera rcr 50 and am having some issues.

The bike is sputtering in any rev range and has trouble making it up the smallest of hills.

When i ride along and i am in high revs the engine will sometimes just stop pulling so i have to clutch in and then give it a few revs, after that it will go again.

It's not too powerful and when i take my spark plug out it is fairly oily so i guess it is running rich.

I cleaned the carb today and still no difference?

Here is a service manual which i used to set the carb to the correct settings.

https://scootergrisen.dk/scooterhjemmeside/download/gilera_smt_rcr_servicemanual.pdf

I have not ridden the bike much after these issues in case i do any damage.

Has the bike been modified in any way? possibly worn piston/rings and/or bore, leaking head gasket, damaged carb to cylinder inlet manifold, clogged exhaust system, airbox and air filter, poor spark (check plug cap /ht lead and generators coils if spark is poor) or worn crankcase oil seals, the list is endless so just work your way through the basics first.

Yes, it has been rebored and had a new exhaust, also the air filter bike was cut short and there is no filter or box, just tape that 'restricts' the flow.

You have just found your problem, the rebore is fine but return the exhaust and airbox/filter to original condition. If you want the bike to run right leave it alone and run it the way it was built, an after market exhaust is fine as long as it does not effect the carburation, if you want a quicker bike (if that is the case) buy a bigger one, simple as that but you MUST replace the airbox and filter.
