just noticed that rust is appearing on my forks (honda cbr 125) just wondering is it a fail on the mot even if the forks aren't leaking ?

I think acf50 would have helped before it happened. Too late now, though lesson learnt for the future ?

How much it would help delay the onset of pitting, no idea.

Clean the rust off with fine wire wool or scouring pad if not severe then cover with ACF50, will be fine.

to be honest i didnt think it would get rusty where it is as its mostly obscured behind the headlight

That's exactly where I'd expect it. Salty dust gets up there, along with enough damp air to form a Brawndo electrolyte, but not enough water to wash it off.
