Was looking forward to mine and the Mrs first tour round north Wales at the end of April with all B&Bs booked up but have just found out the mrs is pregnant, so we're not sure what to do now. Doing it in the car has been suggested Sad

Realistically we shouldnt do it as even just a little off with no broken bones could harm the baby so the real question is... shall I just go without her Twisted Evil

How far gone.

Do you want the child or do you want to be able to ride when you want.

Do you have access to stairs.

Go with her anyway, remove calipers first.

Do you have any friends that ride? Get them to come along with their girlfriend. You and the other bloke can ride to the destination, the girls can take the car and natter about handbags or whatever it is they witter on about, then the 4 of you can all have a nice meal and some drinks at the end of the day.

Don't pregnant women need a wee every 5 minutes?
I expect that will wear thin very quickly.

You can't take the risk with her on the bike. If anything happened......

You will just have to save the brownie points for a later date and go with her in the car. Sad

If it was me, I wouldn't take her on the back of the bike pregnant. The consequences of anything happening are just too severe.

Unsure if this is an "OMG IMMA BE A DADDY" post or a serious question.

If it's a serious question then...wow.

Just...wow. Rolling Eyes

My ex went on the back of the bike until a few days before she dropped.

It is what is comfy for her, babies will cling on inside no matter what, we did swing from trees for a while. If the pregnancy isn't to be then no matter what you ride/drive will stop the end result. Obviously you will be careful, but you would be anyway.

Just enjoy your time while you can.

It's up to her, with some trivial influence from you.

Fuck all to do with us.

Personally, I see no issue taking someone on the back if they are pregnant. What if it was your sole transport?

Presume she's in the first trimester so not showing meaning there's no bump to be vulnerable or get in the way, so baby is protected.

I think the safety aspect is moot really as others have said, if it was your only mode of transport you'd have no choice on a day to day basis.

However, pregnancy is very very tiring in the first trimester, so maybe you should consider whether the trip might be too exhausting. Your wife's growing a whole human being inside her, so won't have her normal energy levels for zipping around, hopping on and off the bike etc.

It's her call at the end of the day though.

Congratulations by the way Thumbs Up

Public transport. Ain't no way I'd have someone carrying my child on the back of a bike regardless of how boring it makes me.

Far too many freinds got fucked up on the roads round near where I live last year to the point where I don't actually enjoy riding bikes till I'm way out of Medway.

Used to get very very worried about the ex riding pillion with anyone including myself tbh.

Do it in the car. You really don't want to be risking it and having to have emergency scans in a strange hospital miles from fucking home and a trashed bike to sort at the same time. The bike trip can wait.

Been there, done that.

Exactly, you could be the safest rider in the world but that doesn't stop some pleb in a 1.2 Corsa overtaking on a bend, someone not seeing you at a junction or you getting hit from behind at a red light.

A mate's mum used to commute on a Bonnie from Hove to Brighton and back when pregnant for the first 4 months or so, her boss insisted she drove and paid the parking for her - good job really as her leathers weren't fitting anymore.

didn't someone work out you're more likely to get knocked over crossing the road than knocked off the bike?

Can understand not wanting to have been a factor in any incident tho - my wife won't get on the back of the bike cos we've got a little one.
