Never seen myself ever getting into wheelies or any other stunt like activity not really my thing.

But, did my first ever wheelie today, not planned unfortunately, noobily revved R6 too much while going over hump on straight bit of country road and front wheel lifted up high (it probably was 6" lol) and stayed there for what seemed a long time. It wasn't really a long time but sufficient to have all sorts running through my head, from mad panic, to trying to remember that video I'd watched on you tube about covering back brake and thinking this a nice piece of road with soft bankings either side so wasn't going to hurt too much when I fell off then front wheel landed softly and stupid grin appeared on my face. That was bloody great!

What's the matter with me? I'm pretty tame, sensible and boring middle aged man and all of a sudden I'm now wanting to learn to wheelie R6 for a giggle when I should be looking at the latest development in mobility scooters.

Really having great fun with new found biking, very exhilarating. When does this honeymoon period end? Smile

You should be grateful you can get anything up at your age! Wink

I don't feel the need to wheelie but if you want to learn, why not?
Nobody knows how old you are with your lid on.

The first time you become a victim of high velocity impact with concrete assuming it's not also the last.

Just don't be the guy that acts out on a residential street and mows down somebody's child/grandma/kitten.

I've been tempted to attempt wheelies but I know I'll put it back down and it'll give me an almighty tank slapper and spit me off Sad

at the top of 1st and 2nd the front gets light and wiggles anyway!

There is no hope for you. I'd recommend watching a few old Fast Bikes vids and a cold beer or two..

It gets very addictive, ive actually started to adapt my supermoto for stunting, pegs ect, but im working on a handbrake setup now.

If your wanting to start, im sure there are threads on here showing technique, failing that, youtube.

Biggest and best bit of advice would be, start small! just pop the front to start, and get into the habbit of covering the rear brake to bring the front down.

Not a chance of that mate! Have kids myself and am not quite that daft. (arguable). It would just be for myself alone learning bike control on a quiet piece of wide open space if I ever did get the urge.

Will be pulling doughnuts and stopppies up the high street though with no helmet, baseball cap on round the wrong way, drunk, wearing just shorts with my wife on the back in a bikini or something (oh gosh that is a horrible thought, forget that) Very Happy

The only time I ever tried doing a wheelie was on a mini-moto, full throttle and flat out (so probably around 20mph), and I thought to myself I'll try pulling the front wheel up because obviously nothing would happen..... right

.... for a little 49cc engine I didn't expect anything to happen, but I gave the bars a quick tug back and almost instantly the front wheel ended up where my face used to be, which was fine because I was horizontal for a split second then hitting the ground and forgetting to let go of the bars until I was in a superman type pose dragging along the ground..... then I let go, I slid for around 10 feet but the bike carried on for quite a few feet more eventually on its side with sparks flying everywhere. Evil or Very Mad

The main thing that stops me doing wheelies is the thought of the cost of repairing my bike, should I cock up.

I can't wheelie, whatsoever. I can't even get the front wheel an inch off the ground.

Could there ever be another bike vid made in 2015 that could even get close to the late 90's Fast Bike's off the wall antics?

I know they were very different from the other magazines, different production company, and views on manufacturer loaned test bikes etc. But I sit in the chair at home and crave those days now!

If I pick up a new Bike/Ride/Superbike etc, it's all about how fuel efficient a Honda NC750S is or how good the ABS and electronics packages are, or which map is best for the road etc.

No fucks given lunacy is probably outrageous in 2015, but it was fucking brilliant then, and there were many hero's out on the street with race cans, tiny plates and dark visors giving it large.
