What do you guys/gals wear on your feet for riding bikes?

Are there any other people out there who prefer to ride with Cats / Martins / Dickies etc?

What about you bigfoot feckers?

So I bought some TCX Infinity boots last November in the sales, ready for getting out & about this year. Mainly because I went grass tracking on the ST, slammed by boot into the ground to avoid a lowside and ended up with a swollen calve muscle. Also keeping water out relied on fresh dubbin + waterproof socks. Decided that maybe £50 CAT Holton Boots could be bettered.

These TCX have been well reviewed for being lightweight, wear all day, do a bit of walking and still offer reasonable protection and Goretex waterproofing. Not so keen on the looks, but could better stomach £175 over the preferred £300 Sidi Adventure boots.

They are really comfortable, that's great. But they are a faff to put on and now I've lost feeling for the bikes controls.
I can feel the gear lever ok(ish), and barely feel the rear brake at all.

Got size 12 feet and kept missing the damn gear lever, really have to jam my boot against the side of the bike to guarantee it gets under the lever well. But invariably feet move outwards (as size 12 it's more comfy) and I'm missing gears again.

I used to wear snow boots and I was quite well known for those.
When I was done with the boots, they were full of holes from dragging around in the corners, which was also the reason, why I got proper motorcycle boots.

I can drive a truck with thigh waders or wellies or clodhoppers so the TCX Infinitys are like slippers. The buckles are a faff but that's the only thing I dislike about them. Not leaked yet.

Presumed you've altered the lever to see if it makes a difference?

I will say 'Ranch' boots, as in every-day work-wear, before admitting they are 'Cowboy-boots' making you picture tasstle top line-dancing costume! which they aren't. (Imagine a school shoe with a boot top) General Purpose utility foot wear from my youth in pick-up truck & picket fence church country. Practical, durable, comfortable & affordable; Got about six pairs; they go to the cobblers from time to time for a retread; last a life time. (most of mine are certainly 10-20 years young) cheaper to run than a C50! You can Ride a bike in'em, ride a horse; drive a pick-up truck; wade a creek; climb a mountain; brand a cow, head'em off at the pass.. whatever you want really. Pair of boot cut Levi's over the top of them, and that's my every-day outfit, pretty much.

Protection is adequate, very thick leather/padding, and actual hard Armour sections too. Easy to get on with a quick draw lace system thingy, I like the metal buckles too and they can pass for a regular pair of boots when worn under jeans. However.
I've had them around 2.5 years now and the waterproof liner has well and truly given up the ghost, and today I noticed a little split where the sole is separating. Pretty disappointing really

I know its obvious, they are designed for the job, they should help save your limbs, bones and skin if having an unscheduled hop-off.
But still, thought it might be more varied.

To be fair, I did miss Wellington boots off the vote list, that would have grabbed a few

Have yet to try them when on the ST, which has a larger gear lever. Will also move lever up a bit /rotate it round so its pointing more up, and see how that pans out.

Was tempted by the German Para boots that someone else linked to a while back.

Army boots because they're comfortable, waterproof and I like to be able to walk about in comfort once I've got off the bike without having to take a change of footwear.

Sometimes a pair of stout brogues in the Summer for similar reasons.

Keep trying motorcycle boots until you find a decent fit?

I wear Sidi Black Rains (size 12 too) and I find them really comfortable on and off the bike. They survive crashes pretty well too in my experience..

I have Alt Berg boots. They are walking boots modified to be motorcycle boots. I can't remember the name of them but I've had them over ten years. I just had them resoled last month and they are very good boots I've crashed in them a few times and they still look nearly new when you polish them.

Alpinestars Gran Torino boots. I did one short trip into town in trainers and it felt really weird having to move my foot so much to change gear.
