hello, first off, let me introduce my self as I'm new Very Happy I'm Adam and own a Honda XR125 Smile

well, I didn't fill my bike up (XR) with enough Oil and now she's suffering bottom end problems, Tapping sounds, when in high revs. I've been searching everywhere for an engine, but to no luck. I've been researching and I am now seeing that the CG125 engine is the same? but can anyone confirm this? and if so what model and year would I need? mine is 2003/2004 Honda XR125L

thanks for any help, I would really appreciate the help

That does look like OHC rather than CG OHV.

Just offering this up for perusal as I don't know for sure
and if they're any good, but the 156/157FMI engines look
interchangable and as I understand it the're all clones of Honda engines

Xr is overhead cam, cg is overhead valve. Both will work, the xr cam motor is revvier and needs to be worked more to get the motor to go anywhere. The Cg motor is a popular choice as the OHV setup lends itself to a less revvy, more ploddy motor with more torque lower down the rev range, ie better for offroading.

The cg motor is also tougher and more resistant to abuse. In situations concerning low oil or bad maintenance, the OHC motor will eat it's cam before the cg motor starts suffering.
