This came up on my feed, car pulls out of a junction and stops there is no contact but the biker goes down.
A bit of info in the comments from the biker himself.

Looks like he just grabbed the brakes and hoped. Don't understand why he didn't go round - Didn't look particularly fast...

Poor obs. Poor braking.

Looked like a Mr Wolf bicycle accident video tbh.

It is perfectly natural for that to happen, you've all likely had it once or twice and been unsure what the best escape is.

Going right, if he continued would have been a splat.

Continuing on if he carried on would be a splat.

I would tend to favour the spot he is leaving, but if he suddenly stops, splat.

Car driver should not have crossed the give way. Would not fault the biker personally.

What speed do you think he was going??

It doesnt look fast, I can't imagine more than 30-50mph after slowing down for the car turning left, if so that's a standard emergency stop speed right??

It looks like he could've reacted to it a bit quicker, and also anticipated it developing...but it was still the car drivers fault, of course his insurance should pay out there, and probably does with the helmet cam...best £60 the guys ever spent and makes me think about buying one lol

Can't believe the cheek of the driver to claim that he shouldn't be responsible if the guy didn't actually crash into him?

He'd rather that the bloke piled into the side of his motor? What a dick.

EDIT: I suppose a better question is - What if this was a pedestrian (say a group to simulate the car) in the same situation, stepping out into the road? What would insurance/police say then?

Rubbish riding, but doesn't mean he is any more responsible for it. Unfortunately another situation where it probably would have been more clear cut in the way of the rider to have actually hit the car.

Car in front of biker turns left possibly blocking the view of the driver of the car that pulled out.. that or he assumed it was clear, keeps on pulling out until he sees the biker at the last moment and stops dead.

Biker meanwhile grabs far to much front brake and gets flung up into the air.

In honest I've been past junctions and had cars creep forward assuming that they're going to see me, even in broad daylight.

Lets say the biker counter steered around the front of the car (not knowing if it was going to stop or not) he could have either crashed into on coming traffic (if there was any like a split second after he did go down) and get potato'd or gone over the bonnet of the car if it hadn't of stopped.

Least the rider knows his brakes work Thumbs Up

In terms of fault, car driver all day long for lack of observations if I was the biker I'd argue the toss that (if the cager used the above blocked view in defence) that there was sufficient time to notice the rider and stop sooner, also depends on if the driver who pulled out was looking for traffic in the opposite direction as opposed to the way the biker was coming from.

Almost exactly what happened to me, except in my case the driver started a u-turn directly off the pavement from a standstill. Same reason he lost the front too, because the road surface is coming apart.

Looks like he panicked and locked the brakes. It's easy to say after the incident why didn't he do this that and the other but he didn't, he panicked.

Still car driver fault 100%.

What cock the car driver is.

Might not have been going that fast but that looks like an incredibly short thinking and response time. Rider could have swerved and done a rossi round the front of the car, but I imagine most motorcyclists would have ended up up coming off their bikes there.

Easy for me to sit here and say it but I'd have tried to make contact with the front of his car. Bikes
getting smashed either way so fuck it and share the joy.
But the rider needs to practice his emergency stops too. That should have been avoidable. Did he endo the bike?

That is how I'm seeing it too, the way he takes off from the seat in a Superman pose.. Though the broken shellgrip (like there's any other kind of shellgrip?) may have made the front tuck under?

Easy to say I would've tried the swerve but in the real world if this happened out of nowhere with no expectation I don't know how well I'd do.

There are 2 options IMO.

1. Use the hazard avoidance skillzors to go around the car that had stopped 1/3 into the road.
Piss easy.

2. Go into the car, try to make a claim, at best it would be 50/50.

Maybe but I would be a bit concerned about my body getting smashed.

But it didn't, it was easy to spot the car pulling towards the junction way before he actually crossed the line. Always expect the unexpected.

Given my experience that would be 100% fault of car. Do not pass a give way unless clear. Road not clear, caused accident. Simple maths. If anyone tried to force 50/50 I'd take my money elsewhere.

Easy to say when watching a video where someone's about to crash but in the real world, ambling along as he did, with the black car on the left slightly obstructed from view by the car in front, another car to the left that you can't trust to stay where it is and some torn up shellgrip all added to the mix.. It's quite a test. If you panic like this guy does you'll be in trouble..

It's much closer than it looks when you look at the stills.

The driver isn't making a complete stop in front of give way sign. Is this legal?

I think it is legal. Only a 'Stop' sign requires you to stop completely, I think that's the law, but I've never heard of anyone ever being given a ticket for not coming to a complete stop on one of those. I'm just guessing that if you don't give way, or don't come to a complete stop at a stop sign and are involved in some sort of accident, then you'd be at fault.

There's no requirement to stop - but there is to give way, which he didn't do.
