Hi guys,

I've had my ZX9 for a few years now and it's had heavy cosmetic abuse in that time. This included leaving it covered in salt and not washing it during the winter etc.

I really wish I had taken before photos, but I didn't really because I only wanted to paint the swingarm. That painted swingarm turned into a full stripdown and overhaul of the bike.

These photos will give you an idea of the abuse that the bike got, but unfortunately there are no decent photos of the bike before.

Like a new bike! surprised that some of the metal hasn't corroded badly and seems to have come back pretty damn well!

Thanks Acemastr,

tbh the metal had corroded quite badly so a lot of what you see has been sprayed and cleaned up. The footpeg hangers were quite bad also but they've been polished and clearcoated.

The ohlins was just cleaned, and tbh it looks brand new. Nothing was painted on that but I guess the quality of it let it survive so well.

This highlights the poor build quality of newer bikes. I did something similar to my TDM a few years back and it looked almost new. The newer machines do not seem to have this resiliency.
